The Democrats on the County Legislature have hit another home run for the taxpayers of Schenectady County. With a 0% tax increase --- to add to their frugal spending and taxing record.   County taxpayers have seen tax cuts in 4 of the past 6 years .. tax rates at the lowest level since the 1950's ... economic development growing the tax base ALL OVER THE COUNTY.

The next question is, are they spending tax money out of reserves to get to this point, or is it the same amount going out to taxpayers?  Also, what is the change in the total tax base?  In other words, even if the same amount is being charged to the taxpayers, what amount will they see on their bill?  Will it be higher due to many places getting tax breaks to "work together?" If so, then keeping the same tax levy just means that the people who actually pay taxes will still be charged more, hence higher taxes.

Now read this fellow posters...... these are DV  words V E R B A T I M    (DV, do YOU know what the word "verbatim" means???      Notice DV's EXACT WORDS ABOVE:

"tax rates are at the lowest level since the 1950's"

Gee, fellow posters, could it be that DV is correct??????

County tax rate in 2005 was a whopping $228.07 (rounded) and in 2010 it went DOWN to $6.48

DV, take bow.   You were so correct, the tax rate has gone down.    Cheers for DV, take a bow (if you can bend over)

I went in the files and I have in front of me the copy of the bill noted as paid for the calendar year 2005.   The COUNTY tax rate for that calendar year was $228.066822  I have in front of me also, the bill noted paid for the calendar year 2010, the COUNTY tax rate is $6.48.   (I would use 2011 as an example too, but the tax return is with our accountant since we're doing some financial matters.)

You see, DV’s  comments prove he does not now, nor has he EVER owned property, he knows absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER about property taxes.   I’ll guess that he never even looked at his “mamas’ tax bill” either because  looking over the bill, anyone with intelligence would know.

Now, since I have intelligence and knowledge, I have proven DV 1,000% WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG again.

DV does not provide the facts because he is not a taxpayer, never been,  and has proven he knows nothing.     The tax RATE does not prove anything good.   DV needs to learn that the tax BILL is what really shows what his savage girlfriend did to the taxpayers.   Our COUNTY tax BILL for calendar year 2005 was between $600 and $650.    Our COUNTY tax bill for calendar year 2010 was between $800 and $850.

DV’s savage girlfriend chose to ignore equalization rates when she came out with the deceitful story about tax rates going down.   And DV obviously just falls for whatever she says for who knows what reason, but then he just copies her deceitful statements and tries to claim it’s wonderful and everything is improving.

The next two messages here prove Savage’s lies to the taxpayers which DV fell for

Here is a news story that appeared must have been 2009 talking about the COUNTY taxes for the calendar year 2010

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Taxpayers may not see smaller bill
In city, tax rate down but assessments are up
BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA AND KATHLEEN MOORE
Gazette Reporter

The county tax rate is going down, but the jury is still out on whether city taxpayers will actually see a smaller bill.
Since most property owners’ assessments were changed in this year’s reassessment, no one is quite sure how the 2010 taxes will fall. Those whose assessments went up a small amount will see a savings in taxes.
But for those whose assessments went up dramatically, the lower rate may not be enough to prevent a higher bill.
The county Legislature set the tax rate Monday after some city legislators acknowledged they don’t know whether the new rate will help as much as they hoped it would.
“We were successful at the county in reducing the full value tax levy by 2 percent,” said Legislator Gary Hughes. “That was a significant accomplishment, given the rising costs we face.”
Earlier in the day, he had for a short time believed the tax rate reduction would lead to a significant tax break for most residents. But by the time he voted Monday night, the numbers were far less clear.
“Whether or not this translates into a savings for an individual homeowner depends entirely on their reassessed property value,” he said.
City Council members were equally uncertain when they set the city tax rate. They built a budget with no tax increase, yet acknowledged that some residents would still see a higher bill because of their new assessment. In particular, owners who saw their property increase in value by more than 30 percent are likely to pay more city taxes in 2010.
For those owners, the county’s rate decrease may not be enough to overcome the vast increase in property assessment, forcing them to pay more in county taxes too. ..................>>>>...................>>>>.................... http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01101&AppName=1

Now, I will point out that the "vast increase....assesment" does NOT and I repeat does NOT mean property VALUES are necessarily going up, it's reassessment and equalization rates

Then we can go back to this late 2010 news story talking about the COUNTY taxes for the 2011 tax year.    Here is the exceprt in quotes.    Make sure you read what I wrote underneath the quoted box

Taxes will increase for thousands of residents of Schenectady County next year, contrary to comments made by the Democratic majority in the Schenectady County Legislature.
The Legislature will vote to set 2011 tax rates at a special meeting Wednesday.
Legislature Chairwoman Susan Savage in September announced the county's $293 million 2011 budget offered a property tax cut of 0.3 percent. "I am pleased to announce that the proposed county budget will include...

Each poster should click on this link, which is the thread that contained that excerpt.   Of course, since I have the intelligence to know this stuff and DV does not, I referred to the PROOF that the tax BILLS would INCREASE, and in the thread I challeneged him, I asked him to respond, for him to explain HOW the taxes are going down, when the facts prove otherwise.

His ONLY response was one of those stupid childish coments made when proven wrong   NEVER once did he admit that he was wrong, never did he admit that yes the taxes are really going up.

apparently the NAYBOOBS are too stupid to understand the difference between  COUNTY TAXES -- CITY TAXES -- SCHOOL TAXES

the COUNTY TAX RATE is at its lowest rate since the 1950's   -- and there will be  NO TAX INCREASE (which is what 0% means for the dipshit-dimwits from the NNTP/GOP/TeaParty)  in 2012  --

if the NNTP/GOP/TeaParty needs additional help understanding this  .. we can have some 8 year old Democrats perform a sock puppet theater explanation for them  --- I understand that Bob Farley needed that to understand the County's 2012 budget and STILL had problems understanding it.

Thanks MC1, it's all smoke until after the election and then the taxpayers will see an increase.

No mention of the two legislators who DID NOT vote in favor of this budget because they DID NOT AGREE with the $50 million nursing home. Not one DEM had the balls to even question the expenses...the lack of contractor bidding...ways to cut the cost...nothing.

Guess Karen Johnson needs to make sure her room is reserved.

I quite DO know the difference between county vs city vs school taxes

YOU were talking about the county taxes.   YOU said the tax RATE is lowest in many years.   Well, of course, The COUNTY tax RATE in 2005 for Rotterdam was $228 ---that is just 6 years ago.   THen I stated that in 2010, just one year ago, the COUNTY tax RATE went DOWN  to $6.48

So YOU claim the COUNTY taxes are down which isd WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.    My COUNTY tax BILL in 2005 was  between $600 and $650.   And for the 2011 tax year it is betweenb $800 and $850.

So I have proven you wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!    DV, you have again proven yoiur ignorance.   I was not in any way, manner, shape or form comparing COUNTY taxes vs CITY taxes vs SCHOOL taxes.

The county tax BILLS, dv BILLS BILLS BILLS BILLS BILLS have gone UP UP UP UP UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DV, YOu DO see where I showed the tax RATE went down, however, that's because of the equalization rate.   So YOU try to twist things around and start throwing the CITY tax and SCHOOL tax into the mix.

It is aN UNDISPUTABLE UNDENIABLE FACT, that whie the county tax RATE goes down, the taxd BILL -- that is---the ACTUAL MONEY homeonwers pay to the county --- is GOING UP UP UP UP!!!!!!

And the reason why the tax BILLS for the HOMEOWNERS is going up is becaue the HOMEONWERS are paying the the COUNTY property taxes for the exempt dem socialists poolitical crony millioniares downtown!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAX LEVY, TAX RATE AND TAX BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tax LEVY can go down

The tax RATE can go down

The tax BILLS can go up up up!!!!!!!!

And THAT is an UNDISPUTABLE, UNDENIABLE FACT FACT FACT FACT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As YOUR dem socialists remove more and more anbd more and more downtown properties from taxable status., the amount of money lost to the county by virtue of exrempting the dem cronies from paying taxes must STILL be collected by the county - your dem socialists in the county make the homeonwers THROUGHOUT the county pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!
