Just heard that Schdy H.S. cheerleaders (not to be confused with this board's lone cheerleader for high taxes known to all of us under various names)  are supposed to go to the Gator Bowl.   While I like to see more emphasis on academics and Schdy school district prefers to emphasize play stuff, I still think it's nice that these kids have attained such an honor.

The news reported that they need to raise about $30,000.

How about those millionaires downtown pay for the trip.   Come on, the parents of these kids pay the property taxes of the businesses downtown, the least the businesses could do is pay for this trip.

Wherre's that Lou Albano look-a-like with this $200,000+ taxpayer subsidized salary?     The milllionaire Mallozzi family?   The Hilton family?   The billioniare Paul Mitchell?    Heck, how about Susie Savage with her six figure taxpayer paid salary with a rich husband?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Oh, my.  I just pictured the two of them, and you're absolutely right.

I could not possibly give a rat's a** if they go to the Gator Bowl.
Why are they anymore special than anyone else at that school?
I wouldn't donate so much as  a returnable can to finance that trip.

This is one of the better stories coming out of the Schenectady Schools.

When you have a City that refuses to pay the $2 million in taxes owed to the district, you'd hope the the tax-exempt leaches in Downtown could spot a few for the kids. Isn't that one of Proctors fake mantras?

I was NEVER a cheerleader, but if these girls have a shot at something good, the City should be proud and should be supporting them anyway they can. THIS is the type of press the City needs - it's positive, it's 'hometown' and we should be their cheerleaders.

All towns do this. It is called a 'community effort'! It is up to the community (residents and businesses) to donate 'if they choose' to!!

My first thought though is.......do the leaders of these efforts inform the kids and parents that IF they reach their goal, and in this case going to the gator bowl...........that it will cost TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to get there? I'd hope and have to believe that they have been holding some fundraisers right from the beginning 'just in case' they go the extra mile....which they did.

In either case....CONGRATS!!!

Maybe the Schools could afford to send them if McCarthy didn't screw the kids out of $3 MILLION to balance his budget? The shepple in the City need something to cheer about and it ain't coming from the idiots in City Hall.
