Schenectady woman gets scary morning surprise

SCHENECTADY -- A woman in the Upper Union Street neighborhood awoke Saturday morning to find a burglar in her bedroom.

Schenectady police said the Ardsley Road woman woke up around 5:25 a.m. Saturday and saw a man in her bedroom rummaging through her belongings. She chased him out of the house, and police apprehended him a short time later. Police charged Daryl J. Hewitt, 25, with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said he gained access to the house through a side door. He was arraigned in city court and sent to the Schenectady County Jail.

Now the words out, prime location for the picking.  Folks up there think the rif raf is only in certain neighborhoods.  Guess what folks, with all the money spent on downtown and no attention to the other neighborhoods they have been picked over so time to move on to the greener pastures.

McCarthy is too busy not funding fire department equipment and not paying the City schools. There's a certain group of nit wits that like paying the highest taxes for the worst schools and government. The jig is up.

Thank goodness this woman wasn't physically attacked.

Ardsley is a beautiful neighborhood with lots of family homes and long-time residents.

Wonder if the 'acting' Mayor will show up campaigning on this street. With his failure of focusing money and time into the neighborhoods as Cel has stated, maybe he should bring along a Time Warner Security employee.

At least Time Warner can keep residents safe within their own homes - the Mayor doesn't seems able to keep the City from imploding.

The incident occurred at 4:05 p.m. Saturday. The man hinted he had a gun and got a unknown amount of cash from the register, police said.

Better yet..........perhaps Gary McCarthy can summons the postal workers to keep an eye on crime just like they have to do for pit bulls! Looks like Gary McCarthy has run out of essential resources. No $$ for fire fighter equipment, can't pay the school, crime is rampant, taxes are the highest in the state, the infrastructure is decaying.....but on the bright side, there is always proctors!!

McCarthy is just another Kosiur!

COLONIE -- A robber is risking prison for $15, town police said.

A man with a gun robbed the Sunoco gas station at 62 Exchange St. He demanded money, an employee gave him $15 and the suspect fled on foot.

The worker was not injured.
