It is well documented that Vikings arrived in the Americas around 1000 A.D.  --  and that is something that every person of Viking descent is tremendously proud of.

Well, I will say exactly what is on the calendar, which is Happy Columbus Day Observed, as Columbus Day is actually Wednesday, and for those Canadians among us, Happy Thanksgiving.

As previously noted... Clovis man was here 10,000 years before Columbus.

Vikings around 500 years pre Columbus.  They possibly named the new world "'omme-rike" (AMERICA)  'the remotest land'.

oh I get it you're one of those clowns that likes the term Holiday Parade rather than Christmas Parade etc.

Why do we always have to change things like that ...........I don't get it.

so the next generation thinks they have a 'new thing'......

The FACT is that the term Discovery Day - one that I voluntarily choose to use - recognizes that America was "discovered" by many people from a number of different cultures/countries.  I merely extended a salutation  ( a greeting for the simple-minded nayboobs)   and what ensued .. was that every nayboob slithered out from under his or her rock and began making all kinds of stupid comments.

So to all who are intelligent enough and mentally stable enough to comprehend the concept and good-hearted enough to accept a simple greeting:

Happy Discovery Day

(the nayboobs can just plain rot in their own waste and  go to hell)

You still haven't answer my question on a subject that 'you' brought up.

so again.....................Then we can assume that you are also in favor of abolishing 'martin luther king' day and calling it 'civil rights day'.........yes?

Would you support such a measure? I believe that most folks would.

Actually, I did not bring up the subject of officially changing the name of any holiday -- I just wished everyone a Happy Discovery Day ... and THAT has absolutely nothing to do with Martin Luther King Day.
