SCHENECTADY -- Police are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon in which one victim tried to drive himself to the hospital and crashed on Union Street near Union College.
Schenectady police initially received a call around 12:11 p.m. Sunday of shots fired on Close Street near Victory Avenue. A short time later, a white Nissan Altima crashed into an iron fence near the intersection of Nott Terrace and the driver was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds.
The driver was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with unknown injuries, said Police Chief Mark Chaires. No one was on the sidewalk at the time of the crash. Another victim arrived at Ellis Medicine's McClellan Street campus with less serious injuries.

A car crashed into an iron fence on Union Street near the intersection of Nott Terrace in Schenectady around 12:15 p.m. Oct. 9, 2011 and it was found the driver had gunshot wounds from an altercation on Close Street a short time before. ()
