SCHENECTADY
Woman ticketed in latest dog attack

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Michael Lamendola at 395-3114 or lamend@dailygazette.com.

A Schenectady woman was ticketed by a city animal control offi cer after her pit bull attacked a neighbor who walked past the animal, according to police.
Christina Weiss of 91 McClellan St. received tickets for having an unlicensed dog and unlawful behavior of a dog, both violations, in connection with the Sept. 27 attack.
According to the incident report, Weiss’ pit bull bit Tammie Faoro of 249 McClellan St. on the right hip and left calf, causing puncture wounds. Faoro was treated at Ellis Medicine’s McClellan Street Campus and released. Police said the dog was not seized. Weiss is due back in court Oct. 17.
Faoro’s fiance, William Forster, told The Daily Gazette on Thursday that Faoro was walking by 91 McClellan St. at 7:30 p.m. when the dog, which was loose in an unfenced front yard, attacked her from behind.
Forster said he contacted the media to bring more exposure to the problem of dog attacks in the city. “The more public exposure there is, the more officials might be pressured to look into this. I would think, at the very least, people with these dogs should have insurance,” he said.
Forster said Faoro has returned to the hospital for medical care because the puncture wounds have become infected.....................>>>>...................>>>>.........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01404&AppName=1

Yep, pit-bull capital of the world - but hey, let's get photo ops on garbage trucks, that's more important.

Does an somebody have to die before this issue is addressed? McCarthy already offered his only solution by throwing this over to the postal carriers. Insurance requirements for all dogs, increasing licensing for all dogs, everything but more animal control officers.

I read this thread awhile ago Cel and really didn't want to ever envision this happening in the City. Unfortunately, with the pit pull situation not being addressed by the Council or the Mayor, the reality of a child being injured may be inevitable.

Last week as I drove over Sixth Avenue some kids were outside playing.  A door opened and a pit bull came running out followed by its owner.  The dog ran in front of my car but the children on the street stood there frozen until the owner grabbed the dog.  Interestingly she gaave me the stink eye instead of thanking for NOT running over her damn dog or her for that matter.

I am all for a Pit Bull ban.
