I don't think it would......the Control Officer is busy more than weekdays...but called out on week-ends....after hours for dogs, cats.....wild animals, etc., at one time money allotted for this position was way more...will check to see how much.....and, he has had more wild animals than not....it's not an easy job...then has to take animals into "custody" to the animal shelter....it is being over-run with discarded pets as well....Schdy takes them to Glenville and that is becoming overcrowded, as Schdy has no animal shelter....and Schdy has not intention of having a shelter of their own...
Taking care of animals and see that no matter what...., they get taken care of, as well as protecting our community against attacking animals.....eg., PIT BULL ATTACK IN SCHENECTADY.
It takes vigilance. and love of animals (domesticated and wild) to be able to perform this job seriously and responsibly....A thankless job that has been critical to some that don't appreciate this job being done.
Find another position to pick apart...like the too many clerical positions ....hour lunches...copuntry club atmosphere.
Look, I love animals just like the next person....but aren't you stretching this just a bit? I mean really...let's drop the bleeding heart crap for a minute and really take a look at this job of 'dog catcher'...k?
What is the education level needed for this job? Except for a valid, clean drivers license, and knowing the basics of reading and writing, it don't look like much more is needed. For the most part it's an 'animal transport service'. And as far as working nights and weekends.....how many and how often? And who actually keeps a record of what kind of animals are picked up and how many hours are actually and ACCURATELY worked? Can rotterdamians FOIL for this information?

It may not even matter if you FOIL for it. Remember when the mid-year numbers came out to show where we were on spending towards the budget? Remember that the dog catcher has been driving around, yet hasn't had to yet fill the gas tank? Numbers say what anyone wants them to say.
Don't put anyone down for doing their job responsibly......more than I can say for others employed by the Town...wasting time with their needless gossip and eyeballing for every little thing someone else does....did you ever watch the laborers on the roads???.....breaks galore...wasting time....lunches for so called "foremen" riding in trucks and going nowhere....you talk about reading and writing???.....how many on the TB do that?...they don't even have the capacity to listen...
So, don't think that it is an easy job.....let's see you can retrieve a pit bull, a wild coy dog, a fox,/////you don't have to FOIL....Call FDG he'll give you the numbers and they won't be fake...
Your sermon was not well taken.....so concentrate where the REAL work is and on the education and wisdom that some of these candidates supposedly have....Don't put the politicians on a pedalstal....real people, work real hard and earn their wage for a hard day's work.
Lastly, if the residents took better care of their dogs and cats *neutered and spayed) and had legal tags then you would see less of this. So voice your opinion for some of the employees who are the real perps who deserve your critique .
No sermon here....just askin and giving an opinion.....k? I don't think anyone has to be told about rotterdam's 'road laborers'. The working for a half hour followed by an hour break, working for another half hour followed by an hour lunch is not exclusive torotterdam. It's done in ALL communities. Is it right? Nope! But it appears to be a benefit when one works for the government. Just ask a state worker!
How many coy dogs and foxes has the dog catcher actually 'captured'? How many pit bulls? Just askin....k?
Suggestion to all those employed by some level of government.........get a REAL job in the private sector and let's see how that works for ya all!
None of this bullcrap would fly. Most, at least in rotterdam, act like a bunch of whining babies...then they run for office!

K.......work in the private sector....that's why I get defensive.....the whiners are takers....the takers are liars... .the liars are poticians......the politicians arent worth $$$$$ from the pockets of the citizens of this Town.....and on and on..it goes........one thing for sure...it seems everyone is related to someone....scary....
and about the animals on the lose???....too many...have them in my backyard every nite....but it would be worth a call to FDG....just to set the record straight...

could you explain what the $50,000/year full time parks folks do in the winter months? do they go to the road crew for snow removal? They have their own budget but it doesn't show the parks folks?
line by line please,,,,I'm stupid

The answer won't come......the quality of life as it was put is not in the parks and recreation....but up to Administration....frundraisers for parks....a little too soon for that. I am sure the people in the Junction are really worried they won't have a place to recreate.

No one works full-time for the parks ... year round or otherwise -- parks falls under the Public Works department and those workers who maintain the parks have other job responsibilities other than maintaining the parks.
The Parks and Recreation Commission has no authority to set the budget for the parks nor have we been consulted -- just like the Police Chief and other department heads were NOT consulted in the crafting of the town budget.
If you want a line by line explanation of the town budget, I suggest that you make an appointment to meet with the Town Supervisor or the Town Comptroller and either one of them can answer your questions.

The final product last year -- was a much better budget -- with a lower tax increase than what Mr. Del Gallo and Bob Godlewski wanted to screw us with.
