I just received my U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey 27 pages long. They say it is to update data in between the 10 year census data collected. I was chosen by address, not me personally, it was done randomly. Says it collects critical up-to-date info used to meet the needs of the community.  I'm required by law to fill it out.

I don't have a problem with any of that.   The problem... the requirement that I have to put my name on it   I haven't looked to see where I enter the ss #. The reason given is the name helps to make sure that everyone in a household is included but that no one is listed twice. Seems to me there must be a way to do this without having to give your name. They claim confidentiality.

Then I thought about it...it doesn't matter if I put my name down or not. They have access to any and all data bases from private to public.  They know where I live (tax return) how old I am (DMV) how much I weigh (doctors records), what I like to eat (Price Chopper Card), what I like to buy (credit card).  They have my computer system identified,your ISP can be required to divulge this information whether openly (crime investigation) or secretively anti-terrorist laws.  They know the color make and model of car I drive. (DMV) They can tap my phone without a court warrant.  They can enter my home unannounced without a warrant now in the name of national security. Can you imagine 4am your door busted down, men in combat garb with assault rifles staring down at you as you lay in your bed in shock.

Did you know that currently NYS Medicaid is organizing a data bank to coordinate all medical care between each medical providers for anyone receiving Medicaid. The dentist can access your primary care medical records or how about a bought of depression, something considered a mental illness is now accessible to everyone in this new health system.  Reason... to cut Medicaid costs which I am all for but this is just the start.  Next will be Medicare then the general community.

I want to burn the damn survey but I would probably go to jail while the creeps on the streets go free.  We have given away all our freedoms reminds me of what happened in Germany.

What is new though is due to Medicaid redesign NYS is just now coming around to utilizing the technologies with Medicaid, which will via Health Maintenance Organizations set things up to have all medical records accessible between providers.  Yes, HIPPA does say they can share info but the technology to do it isn't there yet in the public or private sectors NYS is now initiating that technological approach to public services offered.

Eventually all medical records public and private will go this way and it has it's advantages of maybe giving us better care in some cases but the negative are so impacting I wonder.

Absolutely nothing is secure using a computer absolutely nothing even the most secure systems are not secure whether they have internet access or not doesn't matter.  I shutter think some low lever hospital worker could access my medical records and supposedly they are sworn to confidentiality rules.  Give me a break.

Boy you are right on the mark about the abuses of Psych meds.  They even had a commercial on TV for a med that fixes shyness which is BS.  The pharmaceutical companies are seeing less and less medications sold  because of improvements to treatment using Recovery and Wellness approaches with minimal inclusion of meds. and they are having fits because it is eating into their profit margins.  No doubt there are mental illness that are related to chemicals in the brain but there is more to wellness than just the medications.

So what is left is the gov handing out the candy to make us feel good all in order to feed the greedy pharm companies.

You're right it is here. IMHO there is nothing that can be done to change it but a revolution
