GLENVILLE — Glenville officials have taken the first step to override the 2 percent tax cap but say they hope that won’t be necessary.
Glenville Supervisor Chris Koetzle said the Town Board fully intends to stay under the cap. However, in order to even have the option of overriding it, the board has to hold a public hearing and pass a local law. The hearing will take place on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Glenville Municipal Center on Glenridge Road.
“All we’re doing is giving ourselves the ability to manage the budget when it’s due and have all the tools available to do that,” he said.
While the board wants a fiscally sound budget, trying to get to what Koetzle deemed a “magic” 2 percent may not be in the town’s interest.
“We want to get the tax levy as low as possible. It may not be 2 percent,” he said. “We all have to ask ourselves: What does 2 percent mean as far as services and where [do] those cuts have to come in services and do those residents want to lose that?”

At least in Glenville there haven't been recent pit bull maulings or attempted child abductions.

Their schools aren't on the persistently violent or underachieving list. Glenville also pays the money owed the school district.

Walking in Scotia isn't dangerous. Neigborhoods are safe.

Again Koetzle doesn't buy his votes - he earns them honestly. McCarthy hides from the taxpayers and offers NOTHING back to the neighborhoods.

At least Koetzle doesn't hide the reality of the situation. Glenville is a decent area to live and families and the middle class flock there.

In Schenectady, McCarthy is not being honest and telling people that the increase in 'fees' the City taxpayers will be subjected to will far exceed a 2% tax cap.

Again, if Hull wants to win, point out the fee increases. That will win major votes.

Try rereading today's story in the Times Union slower- Glenville's taxes are going up 1.8% NOT OVER 2% without increases in every fee like the DEM morons in the City. Glenville is not even near the top highest taxed list where Schenectady leads going away. Demento keeps putting up dated stories to hide the total mess in Schenectady. Same idiot that said Junction would be cleaned up in 3 days.

Come on someone.

Please explain what this 1.9% increase actually is.

Is this the percent increase in the budget?
Is this the percent increase in the tax LEVY?
Is this the percent increase in the tax RATE?

All these things factor into the equation and WILL result in tsax BILLS being MORE THAN a 2% increase ....... and that will be EXCLUSIVE of the increases in the fees.

Gee, can you beliee these socialist dems.   In just 7 short they decide toi tax homeowners TWICE for trash collection and then on top of that increase that fee a whopping thrfee times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the portion of the property tax that goes towards the sanitation dept budget PLUS the trash tax PLUS the THIRD INCCREASE in the trash tax, for sure the financially struggilng homeowners in the city are payiing more than people in town pay for private trash collection.

But, guess what, the millioniares downtown are not paying anything in taxes.    And not one cheerleader for increasing taxes on the homeonwers has provided any documentation from government records showing that the millionaires are paying property taxes.   I, however, have provided official proof from government records showing the 100% exemptions which then is forced upon the financially strugging homeonwers

McCarthy has just bambozzled the folks by saying he kept the tax increase below the 2% tax cap.

However...the 'fees' were increased bringing the total tax bill 'over' the 2% cap.

Sweet move, huh?

And SB  responded wiith:

still below 2 percent right? point serve match

Now my reply to SB.....PROVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on.....explain how you arrive at the statement that even with the fees it’s still less than 2%?

Well, come on, show us the math if you have the guts to do so.

We are all waiting.

Come on

Or are you going to do your customary YAWN????????

Well SB?

SB will NOT provide an answer because:
1.  He doesn't really know
2.  He is really DV and we all know he is not now nor has ever been a homeowner paying propoerty taxes anywhere
3.  He's too embarrassed to admit that he is wrong, much too embarrassed to show his STUPIDITY…..ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Watch him not provide an answer, just watch.

Watch for his     YAWN

ROFLMAO

The truth of the matter is......the taxpayers will be paying MORE than 2% in taxes/fees! Metroplex was established with the promise to bring in jobs and lower property taxes. That didn't happen.

The have 'relocated' businesses and raised taxes to being the highest in the state!

..........and they continue to rise!!

As far as Glenville........I have many many many family members and friends who live there. They call it the best town in the county! And they are working with the elected officials and understand the fiscal issues. They do have ONE complaint.....too much money going to the cops!! And that's the truth!

Above=True. The "copservative" party has as its first two syllables COP and SERVE. Maybe they should be the Servecopatives and put those two syllables in reverse.

No SB yet.  Must be on as a guest, and reading these messages and now he's going to start trying, to no avail, to crunch numbers,

BUT IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK SB.    You are WRONG.

Come out and show yourself here, you made a statement-- "still below 2 percent", now back it up, come on SB, those are your words, now support them with the math (or go back to first grade and start your education over again

Can we all just about read SB's mind right now as he ponders after reading my messages, he's thinking, "hmmmmm, MC always has details, MC knows his and/or her stuff, I think I just better fade away on this topic, I just cannot write anymore about tax increase plux fees are less than 2%"

Guess it's time for SB aka DV aka GG to just let out another YAWN

When is a tax not a tax, when they call it a fee to go around the tax cap. NYS did the same thing a couple of years ago. If it comes out of your pocket it is a tax no matter how the politicians spin it.

From the same TU article today:

"In Albany, Mayor Jerry Jennings' proposed $168.5 million budget would raise the tax levy 1.8 percent, but there would be NO PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR HOMEOWNERS. THE INCREASE WOULD BE BORNE ENTIRELY BY THE CITY'S COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES, Jenings said."

WHY isn't Gary McCarthy taxing the downtown properties. The City needs the revenue more than the Metroplex needs a PILOT payment and the Mayor should know this - he sat on the Plex board.

But then again, when there is such a blatant conflict of interest, it's only the taxpayers who will get the shaft.

Again, Roger Hull needs to expose the truth to all taxpayers. He needs to get the figures for the increases in fees. Right now, Hull needs to get in the game and stop standing on the sidelines.
