Ok, I was gonna post this in the Town Clerk thread but decided I didn't want to go off topic there. So here's my question. Why is the Supervisors term 2 yrs? It seems to me that isn't nearly long enough to do a decent job. Let's see, sworn in in Jan. and I'm sure there's a bit of a learning curve as far as getting to know employees, learning how things actually work and getting started. 'course after the first year in office, knowing that you only have 1 year left and would like to continue in the job you need to start devoting more time to the reelection process thereby taking time and energy away from the day to day operation of the town. Wouldn't a 4year term be more logical? Or am I missing something and just over-simplifying things? I'm also a firm believer in term limits. JMHO |

Sometimes 2 years is too long when the wrong person is elected to office. |

me too....also gives time to really detail and to cut costs and do time standards on every position....and that would really go over big with the taxpayers.....then you would see more productivity and less time for politics on the job and especially for all the overpaid ......SOMEONE GET THIS OUT THERE.... |

I remember when Steve Tommasone was speaking about the fact that this should change. But at the same time, he was constantly running. He never even took down some of his election signs while he was in office (anyone remember the sign in the window where First Class Products is back at now that was there almost an entire term?). |

I think the clerk is 4 years, as well are all the board members and county legislators. The Supervisor is the only 2 year position. |

We'll keep the highway supervisor for 4 years ... yet the person actually making decisions and responsible for the welfare of the town is elected for two years.
Makes sense, eh? |

The residents of the town voted down the proposal to extend the supervisor's term to 4 years about 15 or so years ago.
Personally, I believe the position should have a 4 year term.

Back then wasn't aware of some guy named Jim Constantino then and what his pecadillos were, but, uhhh, uah, ahhh, but, but ahhhh- he remembers a ballot initiative that was up for a vote! |
