Yeah, cut services to the taxpayers, and continue to exempt the millionaires from paying taxes. Yeah, good one, huh? All the tax handouts to the millionaires downtown has NOT done anything to reduce taxes on the taxpaayers who are the highest in the region AND almost the highest in the whole country. All the tax handouts have NOT resulted in any real increase in jobs---they merely move EXISTING jobs a couple bloicks or a couple miles, and any new jobs are poverty wages---jobs which people cannot afford to buy a house in the city. All the tax handouts and people are still trying to flee the city in droves--sadly no one want to buy their homes after a year on the market! All the tax handouts to downtown and vital services have been cut over the years
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Without the investment in downtown and the rest of the county by Metroplex -- the city would have LESS property tax revenue and LESS sales tax revenue.
BTW -- despite what the nayboobs say .. housing sales in the city are UP not down. Projects have been completed to improve the city .... more investments/projects are in the works.

But the money could have been used for NECESSARY city services, perhaps more police, better infrastructure, better snow plowing, and it would result in a better quality of life and more people buying homes which would result in more tax revenue and ore people would want to come and live in the city
But the free wheel spending has robbed most of the txpayers of their life savings such that they are forced to flee the city, often abandoning their homes, letting them go for taxes, or otherwise taking a huge loss just to get away from the lack of city services and the very very very low quality of life

Provide the list of closed sales....from OFFICIAL sources. And show me the sale prices compared to the assessments.

And explain how values are up when they even in the best areas they go for auction? Like the house in the GE plot which went for a tiny fraction of it's worth after the previous owner I think just walked away

Quick question, with these permits, how many are completed? Really, anyone can get a permit to start building, but how many of these homes were actually built? Just wondering.

- City-data.com crime index (higher means more crime, U.S. average = 319.2) The City of Schenectady crime index is 557.4
-Unemployment in March 2011 - in Schenectady 9% in New York State 8%
-Home sales per quarter has PLUMMETED! This last quarter in 2011 (Q2) is the lowest it's been since the beginning of this chart in 2006. That chart is NOT looking good.
