A minor one year decrease. Look at the decade trends. The FBI has issued warnings about the explosion of violent crime. Got gangs?

True. But he pretends to know Latin, just like he pretends to know everything (yet he never was able to make use of any of his mysterious knowledge such that he could have made one iota of his life.)

It's possible that crime technically has gone lower.  I don't have enough details to contest the findings.

However if you just think back to 10-15 years ago, what is going on in this country today cannot be ignored.  And yes our city is part of that macro-problem.

With flash mobs and other random acts of violence becoming pervasive - our country is heading in a very bad direction.

Poor parenting, entitlements enabling generations of people that do not add to society - with the problems of exorbitant pension / healthcare costs for those in law enforcement preventing us from "staffing up"...  I fear it's only a matter of years before drastic measures, such as full curfews and/or National Guard patrols.

I just don't see how things are going to get better.

Drudge just had a link to a news story about a brand new IHOP hiring a bouncer.

Crap like this is becoming the new normal - and anyone that says "things are getting better" overall with respect to crime, just isn't opening their eyes to what is happening in this country.

http://violentflashmobs.com/

These things weren't happening 15-20 years ago - and wouldn't  have been even if the internet was as prevalent as it is today.

First don't believe anything Sybil says. Yearly data in a small City means nothing. As Jack said look at long range trends. According to the FBI not Sybil very negative trends with exploding violent crime and gang activities.

Having no residence or business in the city, DV/SB/GG have no idea what the quality of life has degraded to the past several years.

The Gazette cited a report from a state agency --- so it is not just something that they made up.  It was a 9% decrease ... so it was not a minor or an insignificant decrease.    And whether or not I owned property in the city  --- the statistics speak for themselves ... the FACT is .. the TRUTH is .. CRIME IS DOWN  ....  AND WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR 11 months is 100% ACCURATE.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!

You claim you have been saying this for 11 molnths.    However, you have NOT, you REFUSE to provide even one teeny weeny shred of proof from an official source that this was the case 11 onths ago.

DUH, you can't even read......    You see, 11 months ago would be October 2010.   The story states:

Quoted Text
CAPITAL REGION — Local crime statistics followed figures statewide in the first six months of 2011, recording reductions in both violent and property crimes, according to new numbers out Monday

So, now try to provide some proof from when you made this claim 11 months ago.   STILL waiting for the ALLEGED link to the ALLEGED info on the FBI website that you kept citing BEFORE 2011.

Uh, I think you better go back and see if you comprehend what you read.      For the CITY, where the taxpayers are raped and robbed of their hard heard money, in order to turn that money over to the millioniares downtown, and to ILLEGALLY give Morris two STAR exemptions......read this DV:

Quoted Text
The city of Schenectady saw a 5.3 percent overall decrease

The story goes on to mentioning that Chief Chaires attributes much of this change to the sweep of the gang members in the city (just remember, most cheerleaders for high taxes on the homeonwers don't believe their are gangs in the city).

Well, just so you know, crime plummeted even more back in the republican days (BEFORE homeowners were being robbed to give exemptions to millionaires) when there was a bigger raid in something like 1994.

After that on big raid, crime went down----for a while---then it went up again when the dems took money away from crime prevention, police, etc, and spent took the taxpayers money and gave handouts to millioniares.

How long will the crime rate be down when there has not been another raid.   When is the next raid?   Where is the money for the next raid?    The state doesn't have an endless supply of money, the feds don't either.

Tell us what your socialist buddies in the city do in terms of a decision in the next budget.....how much do you think the homeonwers will be willing to pay in higher taxes?

Your dem buddies in the city and plex need to spend money on more raids even if that means stopping the tax exemptions for the millionaires downtown.   The economy is geting worse under this dem pres, dem governor, and dem county and city.   The homeowers are struggling more today than even a month ago.

It's time the city have the guts to take back the tax exemptions and STOP raping the taxpayers to give handouts to millioniares downtown.   The Hiltons had more than enough money to build that hotel downtown without tax dollars.   Ditto for Marcellas, ditto for the Mallozzi's, ditto Paul Mitchell, ditto the banks.

WHY must the taxpayers go without necessities in order to give handouts and tax exemptions to millioniaresl.

Finaally, DV, do you agree that for the homeowners who pay almost the highest taxes in the whole country, that the crime rate should be much lower

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
