Rotterdam DEMS are the first morons to smash the Cuomo tax cap! They slash town reserves, demote detectives and still have to screw the taxpayers HIKING taxes a huge 2.83%. 13 employees have to lose their jobs because the DEM morons can't budget. The DEMS drained $800,000 from the town reserves. These idiots can't be removed from office quickly enough. What a disgrace these DEM working together idiots are.

DEM idiots can't read. Rotterdam was the ONLY local town to smash the Cuomo tax cap. Keep bringing up Glenville-which did not exceed the limit no matter how many times he lies about it. Glenville is not in the ten worst communities for taxes unlike the City, Scotia and Rotterdam all run into the ground by DEM morons.

Again, where's the proof that Glenville went over the tax cap? Please provide the proof before you start a thread which is completely bogus.

why do we care about the STUPID tax cap?.....it's a joke....it's a RED HERRING....IT ALWAYS WAS.........and the effect hasn't even come close to being felt yet.....maybe a few can grab strings but eventually they will break....

fees/surcharges/delivery charges/ rate of usage fees/county usage fees....I'm sure I'm missing a crap load of rhetoric to disguise 'tax'.....

Albany homeowners got a zero % property tax increase.

That's what I wanted to hear in Schenectady.

the honeymoon only lasts until the next contract is up for a vote and the COLA's/pensions etc need to be filled like Jabba the Hut.......

Schenectady just 'looks good' but I bet there's a cancer of sorts eating away at the 'tax cap' line in the sand......

the people forget...next year it will be a new story......

"We didn't see"..."We hoped for"...."The Federal blah blah blah"...."We estimated blah blah blah"........

battening down the hatches requires brawney brains......

here is the truth from the great leader:

Supervisor's plan for '12 budget hikes levy 3.3 percent
Daily Gazette, The (Schenectady, NY) - Wednesday, October 5, 2011
Author: MICHAEL GOOT ; Gazette Reporter
Taxes for the average Glenville resident would go up about $18 under the 2012 budget proposed by Supervisor Chris Koetzle.

Koetzle's $18.2 million spending plan would raise the tax levy about 3.3 percent. The spending plan complies with the 2 percent tax cap because state law allows municipalities to exclude state-mandated pension costs from counting toward the cap.

"If it wasn't for the mandates that they place on us, we would be well below it," Koetzle said.

If this budget were adopted, a homeowner with an average assessment of $173,000 would pay about $571 in town property taxes.

Much of the budget goes toward special districts like sewer and fire. In the town's three major funds -- general, town outside the village and highway -- Koetzle is proposing to spend $11.6 million, which is a decrease of $150,000 from last year. Of that, about $5.7 million is raised through taxes.
