That was the point rachel.....they are half truths being sold to the public. The unfortunate part of any media outlet, is that there is no chance for rebuttal.
The gazetto would have you believe that it is Ray Gillen, Gary McCarthy, Susan Savage and the entire democop party that should take 100% of the credit for ALL of these businesses. Yet they FAIL to inform the readers that kingsway, shoprite, target, golub freezer was a corporate plan for the last few years....with or without the plex. They also FAIL to inform the readers of the 'relocated' businesses (no new job creation) that were paid for by the taxpayers.

So for $100 million Metroplex dollars - this is it? FANTASTIC!!!

Much more than $100 million has been spent or redistributed by the Metroplex. The sales tax revenues since 2000 have been $8 to $11 million per year. Add to that the $75 million bond cap that is reportedly nearly exhausted. Then there is the small amount that was repaid by borrowers and/or recovered from those developers/investors who chose not to repay. And, finally, you must include the loss of property taxes from agreements made. The amount of money spent is more likely in the $150M to $200M range.
Another interesting list that the Gazette could (but won't) publish is the list of the highest beneficiaries and their campaign donations to the party in control of the funding and local government.
