There is a big difference between job creation and job relocation.

Moving existing businesses into Downtown (from other parts of the City) is not job creation - it's simply moving a set of employees from point A to point B. That's a shell game and of no benefit to the taxpayers.

I'd love to see a list of which jobs were actually created. My guess, it would never be released by Metroplex because it doesn't exist.

Even DEM committee people are laughing at these made up figures. McCarthy admitted that it was not 4,000 but the memo has not yet reached Broadway? Moving jobs from Erie Blvd to State St or Hamburg St to Broadway is not creating any new jobs. The Mayors office cannot created jobs-except public sector jobs as DVR stated. Next up McCarthy as mortgage broker!

Actually -- I didn't say what you said that I said.   I believe the jobs created in Schenectady County figure to be accurate.

I believe this 4,000 figure is incorporating other counties as well. For some reason, McCarthy keeps referring to Global Foundaries as part of the job growth? Why would a Saratoga County company be in his calculations?

For once you made sense and already walk it back. McCarthy said he did not create 4,000 new private sector jobs Downtown. Keep spinning sock puppets. Read the latest memo from machine HQ.

Tell us what jobs were CREATED.   And WHAT is the salary of them?   What are the employers.   Tell us DV.   Tell us where 4,000 jobs were CREATED that McCarthy and the dems actually did it.  

For example, that welfare store over in Hannaford.   Yes, jobs were "created" there.   AJ Wright closed so we lost jobs.  And granted, the net effect of AJ Wright closing and CW Price opening is probably a wash.  However, give you the benefit of the doubt and say that jobs at CW Price were "created"   However, the jobs that were "created" had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do wtih the dems or Metroplex.   It was merely an available spot.    There are many long empty places in Hannaford plaza.   If I decided to retire and open a restaurant, I could think, gee, there is available rental space by Hannaford, I could call Nigro on the phone and inquire about the rental of space.  I would negotiate with Nigro and then once an agreement was made, I could open.   Now, if I did that, solely by contacting Nigro, the dems absolutely postively could not in any way, manner, shape, or form take the teenist credit for creating the jobs that I would have.  

Now, I trust, DV, you DO know that Proctors was here, Key bank was here, SEFCU was here, MVP was here, Villa Italia was here, Marcella's was here, etc, all BEFORE Metroplex.   The jobs that went downtown were NOT, and I repeat NOT created, they were LONG LONG EXISTING jobs that moved a few blocks or a few miles at taxpayer expense.\

And the hotel, paid for with taxpayer money, tell us how much the maids make?   And the dishwashers.   Tell us DV.   Can you answer the question?   How about the popcorn makers at the Bow Tie.....what is their salary and benefits, insurance and pension???????    Are these employees paid enough so they can save money for a normal down payent on a house and then have good enough credit history to get approved for a mortgage so they could buy a house in the city?  

Can you answer that DV?     Oh yeah, I can see it now, since DV has no answers, because the true answer is these people are barely paid living wages and absolutely could not buy a house, they can barely afford rent on their low paid jobs.   And DV will just post a resposne that he will not answer my questions----his usual answer---his usual answer when the truth is that he cannot post a response showing good paying jobs.

the idea that a politician should be patted on the back for 'creating' jobs is ludicris.....

only to some with certain political POVs.

we can;t always depend on walmart to create the jobs for us, especially walmart with its less than liveable wage and no fringe package. but that is where we are headed
