Schenectady is not the envy of anyone, anywhere. When you tell someone that you live in Schenectady, they roll their eyes. They are not envious, they're just thankful that they don't live anywhere around, in or near the City.

Well then SB, apparently you either:

a) don't live in Schenectady or
b) don't get out much

I'm guessing a is true.

First of all, this does not go for all people, some do attack people, some just ask for actual facts.  Some do both.

Also, you can't prove a negative.  For instance, prove to me that it didn't snow today.  Well, you can't.  You can show that there's no snow on the ground.  That doesn't mean that it didn't snow, as it may have already melted.  Instead, why don't you try to prove the positive?  WHere are the 4,000 jobs that were created?  Or, maybe you can just prove part of that.  For instance, I understand, through reading here, that this number used to be 3,500.  Instead of proving that there were 4,000 new jobs, why don't you start with just proving where the new 500 jobs are?  Then we'll worry about the other 3,500.

I think the problem with job creation is the public cant tell entrepreneurs from the elected officials.....which,,,according to the independence seeking of the American colonies from the kings rule, we're about really pissed off here....

seems like the same scenario....can you paint a picture....simple kindergarten like.....without loopholes without legal mumbo jumbo and/or rhetoric.....show me the $$ trail.....

entrepreneurs who think they are statesmen
statesment who think they are entrepreneurs

taxes that just get lost and sucked down some windfall pipe into their back pockets....hence, big a$$es......

wait,,,not to mention the 'big daddy syndrome'

Trying to determine what is going on in the world by reading newspapers is like trying to tell the time by watching the second hand of a clock.

Rage is the only quality which has kept me, or anybody I have ever studied, writing columns for newspapers.

If this were true....Susan Savage would have won the election....

The truth of the matter is......it made her the laughing stock and she lost miserably!!! And they were forced to put Stratton out to pasture....and how many others jumped the sinking ship?

Or perhaps SB just believes whatever the gazette is told to print..perhaps?

His "manhood"    ROFL

If it's the envy everywhere, then how come people aren't shoulder to shoulder walking through there?      Oh yeah, there's plenty of panhandlers and mental cases down there.   Like the guy dressed in riding pants last week, with a 70's shirt, cane in one hand, umbrella in the other, close cropped afro hairstyle with gel in it, and long dangling earrings, asked if we had some change.   No more going to that SEFCU branch, no way

You know where the 4,000 jobs are that were CREATED?   Where are they?   Tell us what employers and what kind of pay.   Well, you said you know.   We have cited all the downtown jobs that were LONG EXISTING jobs, merely moved from one location to another, and then the "new" minimum wage jobs with employees getting some welfare in addition to the low pay jobs.   But tell us what the NEW jobs are that McCarthy claims HE created??????    Well??????

i disagree. sorry

You disagree??????    Then PUHLEEZ provide an explanation for why city occupants are putting their homes up for sale????    And explain WHY houses are NOT selling?

Like Eric Ely's house, tell us why that house was put up for sale OVER a year ago, nice area and NO ONE wants to come and buy the house in the city?????    Tell us SB.

Tell us about that house on Union and University, that nice old house that has been for sale for a couple years (I think it was featured in the TU blog).    Explain why it hasn't sold.

Explain why that beautiful house in the GE plot failed to sell after a few years---NO ONE wanted to come into the city buying a house for market value, not even BELOW market value----how come it took sale at an auction.

Is it a good thing thing that financially struggling homeowners lose so much?

You keep making comments that things are good, well, provide some details.   Show us houses that are selling quick AND above the asking price, hell, even above the market value.   Show us assessments that are increasing.

Please show us the numbers how all the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars spent downtown is resulting in a reduction of taxes.  When a tax base increases, that results in tax BILLS for the homeowners to go down.   Show us how this is happening.   Show us tax some details from official records showing how tax bills have gone down thanks to downtown.

Can you do these things.    Instead of making statements, provide the proof.

I do appreciate the kind words from those who expressed concern about the personal attacks leveled at me.

(again -- for the record -- I only post under this name and I am NOT gravel gertie)    As far as the personal attacks,  I just consider the ignorance and/or mental state of the parties that are coming up with the lies, distortions and viciousness.   The sad fact is that they have no desire to have a thoughtful and reasonable debate of the issues.   They appear to have NOTHING sensible to offer so they have to attack other people.  They are just overgrown but very immature  school yard bullies.
