Instead of any facts more lies, more smears, more false charges. Downtown is a total farce. $100 Million flushed by idiot DEMS who couldn't run a pop stand.

You really should take a class in economics regarding the free market and capitalism. Perhaps downtown was less appealing 8 years ago, but that was a factual economic reality. Basing economic growth through moving businesses around like chess pieces on a chess board only means that there are still the same amount of chess pieces located on the same board. Also, measuring economic growth by bars that have patrons is also not the plumb line for economic growth.

Downtown is a picture of socialized economics. Businesses hand picked and paid for by the government/taxpayers. And when 1/2 of the population (which is growing daily) is busy standing in line at the dss building, is clearly not what is meant by job creation.

GE, the same company that is responsible for destroying schenectady, is the same company that is being wined and dined in schenectady by receiving hundreds of thousands/millions of taxpayer money and taxbreaks. Ironic to say the least.

You are bashing a local business .. you heartless swine.

People may want to see a show at Proctors, but they don't want to come to Schenectady.

People might go to the Holiday Parade, but they won't stay around too long with their families.

Fact is, no one wants to come or be in Schenectady for any longer than they have to.

The entire problem isn't the raping of the taxpayers (thanks to the Metroplex mayhem they've created Downtown), but as Bumble stated, when GE left, Schenectady died.

The only way Schenectady will have a Renaissance is when jobs come back...oh, not a company on Erie moving tax-free into Downtown....a company like Beech-Nut perhaps???

Speak for yourself,  I know that I and many people that I know enjoy going to Downtown Schenectady .. an,for us, Downtown is alive and vibrant ... and we enjoy it.

Oh -- and as for jobs ---  there are more people working in the buildings within a block or two of State Street  between Erie Blvd and Nott Terrace  NOW than there were 10 years ago under the previous GOP administration.

I'd still like to know the non-cosmetic gains from 8 years ago. Not the DOT, that isn't a business. Not CVS, it was already there. Where are the businesses gained? Not the businesses that replaced ones that left. I don't know what they are. Anybody?

The facts from CD Realtors are incorrect? How so? For once try and argue with facts and not your usual vile. McCarthy is lying about creating 4,000 jobs and the press knows it. Good luck giving away more property nobody-lol!

Those are the facts??? Benny is slimey???? That is an opinion, not a fact, and doesn't relate to downtown at all. Do you believe that it does? Is that your idea of proof? It is worse than I thought.
I'm still waiting to hear what the gains are downtown. Or what jobs were created. Try to stick to facts.

If you can't see the new buildings and the improvements made downtown without someone pointing them out --- then you have significant problems that need correcting --- like maybe you need your eyes examined.

If one can't address the reality that I pay over $10,000 in taxes on my building assessed at $240,000 (which is triple of the rates paid in neighboring Counties), yet my City is crime ridden, has one of the worst roadways throughout the City, has a sub-par school system and graduation rate, never cuts anything from their budget and has crappy neighborhoods.

If I'm paying more, I expect more. If Schenectady is in a Renaissance then why do I keep paying more every year? Shouldn't the influx of 4,000 jobs and businesses begin to alleviate the tax burden? Shouldn't a Renaissance be helping the taxpayers in Schenectady....

The FACT is that there are MORE occupied buildings downtown NOW then there were 10 years ago and MORE jobs downtown than there were 10 years ago.   Given the HORRIBLE FISCAL CONDITION that the last 2 GOP left the City of Schenectady in --- it is amazing that City of Schenectady has made any improvement in the past 8 years.

No one has said that Schenectady is perfect and has no problems --- BUT THERE HAS BEEN PROGRESS.  I prefer to take an optimistic approach to life --- and I can assure you that there are other Northeast cities that are in worse shape than Schenectady and are NOT showing any progress towards improvement.

No silly, Renaissance in Schenectady is the 'birth' of a new bureaucrat. We've been under a renaissance for 10 years and supposedly created 4000, and that could be correct - all those jobs are most likely cronies given government jobs or crony capitalist given no bid government/Metrograft contracts(Plank Construction)

Oh -- and as for jobs ---  there are more people working in the buildings within a block or two of State Street  between Erie Blvd and Nott Terrace  NOW than there were 10 years ago under the previous GOP administration.

All at high expense to the financially struggling homeonwers in the city whose taxes only go higher and higher to pay the minimum wage jobs downtown---employees who then have to get subsidy by the taxpayers via various public assistance benefits.

And how many of those new jobs are people who bought houses IN the city to occupy?

And tell us how these these people working downtown have helped the city??????

What has been the effect on the homeowners proeprty taxes?
What has been the effect on the homeowneers property values?
What has been the effect of the cost of trash collection   (uh, from NO fee at all under the previous administration to a fee instituted AND increased TWICE....and that is paying a fee AND a tax for trash collection !!!!!!!!!    DV, do you support people paying TWICE for trasn collection?)
What has been the effect on crime in the neighborhoods?
What has been the effect on the condition of the infrastructure in the city?????   Huh DV????    Tell us about the people whose homes are being damaged by the bad roads, well DV?    Tell us
Tell us about the schools in the city
Tell us how many city pools are open now compared to before
And tell us how many snow emergencies have been declared in the past 8 years, huh?

And when you answer, be sure to provide proof of your statements.    Of course, we ALL know you won't answer these questions because the answers WITH PROOF will only proof that the homeowners and residents have had their taxes increaed beyond belief, while their home values have plummted, and vital NECESSARY services eliminted in favor of giving the taxpayers money to the millionaires.....and to giving your buddy Morris two STAR exemtpions in violation of the law

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
