Explain WHY the absolutely postive ONLY place in the WHOLE FREAKIN' TOWN that CVS can go is on RESIDENTIAL STREET where people bought their homes long ago, where children play, where children wait for school buses, etc.     Put the damn on the front lawn of DV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you were absolutely wrong at the Planning meeting...can't believe you made such accusations to the residents.  Unbelieveable!

For the record, the residents who objected to the CVS being built did NOT object to "some other retail use" for the properties.   Since the vote was NOT a final vote on approving the building of the CVS pharmacy but was ONLY a vote on whether to recommend rezoning the land from residential to retail business ---- and since the resident did not object to the properties being used for - in their own words - "some other retail purposes" and only objected to it being used by CVS  -- the vote against the negative recommendation was completely appropriate.

No one said that traffic would not be a concern -- the fact is that if "some other retail purpose" is proposed in the future -- it could have as much or more of an impact on traffic than the proposed CVS.   Furthermore, I believe that traffic and safety was a BIGGER problem in the past -- with the long continuous  curb cuts, with people backing out of parking spaces out onto Lawndale, Guilderland and Curry.   I saw a number of accidents and near accidents because of the traffic patterns from the previously existing businesses on that site.

The developer addressed the visual impact with the landscaping and berm -- and there is absolutely NO landscaping now  shielding the residents from the buildings ( or former building in the case of the pizza shop).

The proposed new building would only have been 20 feet high -- which is the same height as the existing dilapidated building on the corner of Curry Road and Guilderland Avenue.

And for the record -- I do believe that there are other sites in town where CVS could build ..  I would recommend the empty pad next to Office Max and the dollar store down by Rotterdam Square Mall as one possibility and there are others.    However, I still believe that Four Corners is also a good location.    I might add that IF the developer had asked me for my advice on site location .. I would have been more than happy to have offered my advice.

Finally, I did not speak to or hear from or receive anything .. even a smoke sign message from any elected or appointed official of the town, county, state or federal government on the subject nor from any "party leader" or in fact from ANY person who said YOU MUST VOTE THIS WAY*  --- But I personally heard from MANY town residents who personally conveyed to me their support for the proposed CVS  .. who are concerned about the current eyesore of a vacant lot and a vacant building  . and who are also concerned by the  anti-development and anti-business attitude within the town  and who are concerned about the high taxes because of our unwillingness to expand our commercial business tax base.   Their voices and concerns have just as much right to be heard and expressed in the form of a public vote FOR the proposed new CVS as the voices and concerns of those who opposed it.

* actually - I should clarify .. I did receive threats, insults, etc from a few persons who opposed the project .. so if anyone is guilty of trying to force someone to vote a certain way it is those few opponents of the project who crossed the line and have chosen to go nuclear on the issue.

Kinda funny on how rotterdamian town board members are trying to skirt the issue. Especially WC who said he would take the advice of the planning board and now is hedging! Looks like they ALL have to wait for their puppet master, tj hooker to tell themexactly how to vote on this one!

It certainly appears that there is not one full independent thinking rotterdam brain among the 5 of them!!

To the second part of your statement, you are just out and out lying .. no "accusations" were made to the residents.  

I don't want to drive all the way to Chrysler Ave for my perscriptions. and i agree that DVOR is hamburg and is a jerk!

Sometimes they refute each other. One like McDonald's and one prefers Burger Thing. Very much proof they are NOT the same. Plus I note that DVOR posts something then a few minutes later and Hamburg says something slightly opposite, then DV admonishes Hamburg. So considering DVOR has so much credibility, I would say that they are totally different people ( )
