When a kid gets hurt in that vacant building - be sure to complain to the town, not the property owner.
k? Thx.
Actually, both should be complained to. CVS should because they're a slumlord, and the town should because code enforcement should have stepped up to have something done with this property LONG ago. |

During the meeting last night CVS divuldged that they are not rebuilding at 5 corners as it was too expensive to buy the Taylor Vadney building. Real redevelopment will not happen at a possible vacant CVS building at 5 corners without the TV property. |

They can't go there. Anything that would be any type of competition for the previous owner of the Curry Road Shopping Plaza can't move in. The former owner? The wonderful Golub Corporation. I did think, though, there's a nice piece of land at the corner of Curry and Hamburg for sale, the old service station. What about going there?
Likely undesrireable from a location that would attract high volume. How about they teardown the green monster on Altamont ave and build there????? |

Golub Corp has a hold....why? the only thing that I remember being there from that
business is a Print Shop located in the back of the bldg....that is another environmental
problem....chemicals from that business....otherwise, what other Golub or anything would
conflict with putting CVS in there......of course, Golub has their own Pharmacy on Altamont Ave.
Golub HQ goes to the city ...gives the Town Curry Plaza....and there still is a problem....
upset the residents near the Warehouse HQ ....and goes scott free....

That, along with the non-competition clause that the town had to sign when they got the deed to the land means that the town is now restricted and anything that might be sold at Price Chopper can't have a business on that land selling the same thing. Essentially, because of the fact that CVS sells drugs, and Price Chopper has a pharmacy selling drugs, this would be competition for Price Chopper, therefore not allowed. |

I'm curious............what would the folks in that like to see happen at that corner...........obviously it can't remain the way it is, but what would be an acceptable solution?................. |

not a bar, not a restaurant, not apartments, not a pizza place, not a condo...not a convenient
store, not a bank, dentist, chinese food, hair salon, not a food pantry, diner
how about a great bakery ...privately owned...a strip mall with boutiques....add some class to this TOWN
?????? at this point...but am thinking ....some sort of retail for job creation....
but, the Town was negligent to sign off to Golub Corp....and for a buck....that's what was happening for years...Golub had a cap on supermarkets....but now has the competition that is so needed in any area....
goes to show you change can happen if you stand up for it.....takes a village.....as they say |

Since when do regular citizens have the right to dictate what type of business should go where? Last I checked, we hired/elected representatives in govt to do that for us .. if not, why are we paying their salaries? What gives you the right to say another pizza place can't go in there - or a convenient store? Answer is, you don't. |

I'm sure that people would be much more happy with a smaller business there, not something the size that was trying to come in. Possibly something that would fit the footprint of what is already there. Get rid of the building that is there now, bring in something that would be a better fit into the land that is there already, i.e. a small strip mall like it was, even a little bigger to encompass the entire corner, but not to take up the entire block with the purchase and switch-over of other properties. These ideas were actually brought up last night at the meeting. |

Right, we hired / elected representatives, thinking that they would be doing things the way that the people of the town want them done. If they don't, it's our job to send them out on their keesters asap. We are paying their salaries for them to do what is right for us, as AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, a REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PEOPLE. If you do the opposite of what the people want, YOU AREN'T REPRESENTING THEM. |

Alias I think your question is a good one. The people at the meeting last night and 6 out of 1 people on the planning comission would like to see a buisness which has a low traffic volume and a site plan that is one respectful of the neighbors. |
