I lost trust in Trustco when they lost Schenectady from their name.  It went along with Albany Savings Bank losing Albany from their name, and becoming part of, I believe HSBC.

As far as a "hometown" bank goes I can't recall any downtown investment by them there.   Would be interesting  to read the plex report denoting any investment by them in the Renissance.   Look where it got First Niagara Bank with the Parker Inn.   Guess Trustco is smarter than we thought.   Made a sweet deal too with their old HQ's sale to the county.  BTW foreclosure sale of Parker Inn still on for 9/21.

Published 04:31 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011

SCHENECTADY -- A city man is charged with robbing the Trustco bank branch at State Street and Brandywine Avenue over the weekend, police said.

Jacob Rivera, 34, was pulled over Thursday by patrol officers in a van matching the description of the vehicle used to pull off the robbery around 10 a.m. Saturday, police said. He made off with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

Rivera is scheduled to be arraigned in City Court on one count of first-degree robbery, a felony.

Ironically, the Trustco bank, 1048 State St., was where the bank robbery scene for the movie, "The Place Beyond the Pines," that stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes, was filmed.
