Has anyone else checked out the new Denney's downtown? I would rather see local businesses whenever possible, but it is nice to see
something up and running at that location. The staff is very well-trained and courteous, I hope that lasts, chain restaurants are usually good when they first open, but these people are to be commended for their professionalism. Also,it seems like many of the employees are from the lower economic rung of the blue collar class, and I don't mean that in a demeaning way, and they seem happy to have their jobs.
I hope that they are able to keep up a 24 hour presence, with their proximity to the police station being a plus. Presumably Union College security will swing by there from time to time. People who work non-traditional hours need a place that is open. It also makes a place to go for college students who aren't into bars (there are a few), and a convenient spot for families of college students to spend money when they visit. A positive development.

I agree with you on the staff, they are really good.

I had a problem with the fish and chips meal.  I mentioned it when I paid on the way out.  The next time there I thought well try it again.  I told the waitress that I would like the fish and chips but gosh the breading was so hard I had just about crack it open with the knife the first time I tried it a few weeks back.  

She made a point of making sure it was not overcooked and even stayed with us till I tried it.  She said she just wanted to make sure it was alright.  I didn't have the heart to tell her it wasn't too much different wasn't her fault I just think Denny's choose a poor product to sell.

So Fish and Chips I will never get there but I certainly am impressed with the staff.  The other folks I have had wait on me were just as attentive and pleasant.
