Most folks are waking up to the fact that the 'gravy train' is over....NATIONALLY!!

We produce/manufacture nothing. We dump millions of our taxpayer dollars into energy companies that go belly up. There are no jobs. People are losing their homes. People(the occupiers) are camping out in parks in cities across this nation. We are in debt up to our ears that will be passed down to the next 'few' generations. All entitlement programs are unsustainable. Prices are rising daily. Uncertainty prevails in the minds of ALL americans.

Common sense dictates to 'scale down'....spend less and cut everything non-essential. The taxpayers apparently are doing just that in their lives. The government on the other hand continues to do just the opposite.

Voting down an ambulance taxing district and voting down a fire house expansion by an overwhelming 'NO' should be proof enough that the taxpayers have 'had just about enough'.

Everyone in schenectady county better think long and hard before they choose who they are going to vote for. I'm sure everyone can agree that a 'tax and spend' candidate is not the way to go!!

The Democratic slate of candidates in Rotterdam lead by Harry Buffardi plans on ramming all of this through, including a REMS tax district when and if they get elected and it seems that Severe is bragging on how they are going to jamb this past us.

When the referendum is put up for a vote again -- and ALL the facts are presented and all the lies (from the NNTP are refuted)  the referendum will pass.  No one has to force or jam anything past anyone --- just lay out the whole truth --- the voters will understand and vote yes.

If the referendum goes up for a vote the results will be the same.

I own property -- one doesn't have to have children to have an opinion -- and I have been very successful in my investments up to now and thus can afford to devote time to volunteering in my community and in my church.
As for living in a fantasy world -- you are the one who is living in a fantasy world -- the proposed addition is NOT a "club house" -- there is NOTHING frivolous.   All of the improvements are necessary to ensure that Pine Grove Fire Department operate effectively IN THE 21ST CENTURY.     If the proposal had included luxury items or unnecessary items, I would be the first to oppose spending the money.    But the REALITY is .. the FACTS are ...  every dollar being spent on this project is well spent and necessary.

I think it is time that you grew up and learned how to actually have a debate without resorting to 4th grade tactics like personal attacks.  It really makes you look stupid and immature.

DV you never met a tax you didn't like, you say it's needed for the children or the frail seniors. Who looks out for the working people that have to try and feed and support those children and who also are caring for those frail elderly when every year those in power keep raising the taxes and fees and which reduce the money they have to do it.

One DOES have to have children to understand WHY over 200 people voted NO.  It's because the price of goods like food, clothing, energy are exploding, the cost of college is exploding, school taxes (especially Schalmont) are ridiculous.  People in this economy have lost their jobs or if they still have a job, their pay has been stagnant.  Peoples 401K's and retirement saving were decimated in 2008, and the current rollercoaster trends of the stock market does not have people feeling it will return in their lifetime.  The savings rate is next to zero, so safely saving money and keeping up with inflation is IMPOSSIBLE.  

So yes, YOU ARE IN FANTASY LAND.  You're a bureaucrat wannabe that hangs around people that are government leeches, who through the force of government, can build in cost of living increases and pad their retirements at the expense of the private sector resident.  People in the private sector do not have that luxury.  People in the private sector have to make decision based on current market conditions.  

The 200 people that voted NO have it right, they are voting with their wallets because they know the reality of this economy.  In this economy, this jolly volley clubhouse is considered a luxury not a necessity.

Actually -- there are a number of taxes that I don't like --- first on my list of taxes to abolish --- property taxes for public education.    Personally, I believe that education should be funded through the State Income Tax with each child receiving a voucher to be used at the public or private school of the parents/guardians choice.

No one is going to change your mind -- even though you are completely wrong on the issue.  You refused to listen to the FACTS from the beginning ---------------   having a bay big enough to hold the new, larger fire trucks is NOT a luxury ...  having decontamination showers so firefighters can rid themselves of hazardous contaminants before they go go home is NOT a luxury ........... having  command and communications facilities ABOVE the floodline are NOT a luxury.

And the nice thing is- maybe if there is a little left over money after the place get built, the town can raid it and use it for salaries for the police brass that backed your party!

Public Safety is NOT a luxury --- even though the Tea-Partiers/Republicans seem to think it is.
