From a visual point....it will be refreshing for rotterdamians to drive through those 4 corners and not see the blight.
From and economic point......a rite aid across from a cvs might leave rotterdam with at least one empty 'box' in the future....maybe!
............and where will the schenectady broadway customers go? To rotterdam? ............ can that corner handle the traffic, especially at 5pm?
Although I have faith that the 'powers that be' will check these concerns out. |

This has been the rumor for years that the 5 Corners CVS would close when the new one is built on this corner. CVS was good enough to fill that store when it was closed from the previous P&C. Also, it doesn't appear to hurt having one pharmacy across the street from another if you look at the corner of McClellan ans Eastern. |

I wonder if Metroplex is involved. At least it's not another pizza shop or bank |

No, it's a pending sale already - he's got no need to re-open, he's doing a killer business right where he is. |

Yeah, and when a political candidate buys signs from him, he collects the sales tax, instead of what Savage and Angelo Satanbarbera do, order from out of state to illegally avoid the tax. |

My understanding is that CVS is interested in 4 Corners and some "as yet unnamed" business is interested in 5 Corners.

CVS proposes new store on neglected Rt. 7 corner BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.
CVS Pharmacy is proposing a one-story building with a drivethrough on an unsightly corner of Guilderland Avenue and Curry Road. The drugstore would occupy the lot where the former First Class Products building stood and replace a dilapidated mixed-used building that has remained vacant at the busy intersection since CVS purchased the property more than three years ago. Constructing the proposed 13,225-square-foot building would also mean demolishing three small homes on Lawndale Avenue and four on Curry Road, according to plans submitted to the town Friday. “We’re excited about the project,” said Andrew Brick, an attorney representing the developer. “Compared to what’s there now, it’s going to clean up that corner.” The store would have an entrance off Curry Road and exits on Lawndale Avenue. The company is also proposing to erect a black vinyl fence between the new building and the adjacent residential areas on both roads. CVS already operates locations on Broadway and at Rotterdam’s Five Corners intersection. Town Supervisor Frank Del Gallo said the chain intends to shut down at least one of the locations and perhaps both. A CVS spokeswoman could not be reached for comment Monday. The intersection where the new store is being planned is directly across the street from a Rite Aid built in 2006. That project resulted in the demolition of three mixeduse buildings. The CVS project will require members of the Town Board to approve a zone change for four of the residential properties within the proposed development site. The project will also require a number of studies, considering the traffi c of the area and residents living near the proposed development. The corner where the pharmacy is proposed has been an eyesore for some time. In addition to the vacant corner building, the site also includes an overgrown lot where the mixed-use building occupied by First Class Products and 4 Corners Pizza once stood. ......................>>>>...................>>>>.......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01100&AppName=1

It’s unclear whether they’ll be more content with a pharmacy instead. Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski said some neighbors have already voiced concern over how the pharmacy will impact their quality of life. “I know it’s a sensitive issue with the neighbors,” he said during the board’s agenda meeting Monday.
Maybe he'd prefer a vacant lot and empty hulk of a building next door? Whatsa matta - his buddy in the pizza shop wanted to go there maybe? |

Is the "as yet unnamed" business the one you spoke of some time ago? Remember, it was the business that YOU were bringing to Rotterdam? |
