SCHENECTADY — After nine years of giving back to their community, Ed and Kay Canty were on the receiving end on Sunday.
Acting Mayor Gary McCarthy bestowed the city’s highest honor upon the couple who have put on the Michael Canty Family Fun Run every year since 2003 to benefit graduates of Schenectady High School and honor their fallen son.
The Cantys were designated Schenectady Patroons on Sunday.
