Effective immediately, those whose homes have been impacted by Tropical Storm Irene may call 2-1-1 to get help with clean up. It's called Debris Removal and Mud Out and cleanup is done by volunteers associated with VOAD- Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. This is for residences only not for commercial cleanup. United Way 2-1-1 will take the following information:
Name, address, cross street or landmark, contact number, work needed, mud/sewage present and special needs. This information will then be given to the coordinators to get in touch with homeowners and get started.
Callers are asking for help registering for FEMA assistance as well.

By picking up the phone and dialing 2-1-1, our call center operators can help you determine how best to get in touch with FEMA register, assist with alternate traffic routes, provide the nearest food pantry location and help you find ways to volunteer.
