Possible breech expected at lock 7.

Evacuations of the area around Lock 7. On "hi tech" Erie Blvd. the Gary Hughes pond should be the site of a new County coral reef. This will provide needed "renaissance". A boost to both tourism and educational mission. The County has a plan to rent boats out over there.

McCathy doesn't portray himself as much of a leader, rather he comes off as mainly a narcissist.

Well I'll tell you this...

It's a shame there's such a vacuum of information.  The last "city news" post on our official website is from April.

The copyright date on the bottom of the page still says 2010.

It's embarrassing that we can't go to that website to get evacuation maps, detailed city road closing data (kept up to date), etc...

How dare the Natering Naybobs of Negativity politicize such a tragic loss of life, limb and property. Once again the Shemonkey cries about a dirty diaper causing a rash on he-she's behind. What the naybobs don't get is that this is a once in 500 year occurrence and that communities far and wide are suffering greatly while Schenectady with it's Working Together Team, is managing this in a pristine fashion without the slightest loss of life. Other communities are not fairing as well, probably because things are being managed by Honolulu Hugh and his nattering squad of boobs!

*Yaaaaaaawn*

The naybobs are nattering while the Democratic Team is shining bright! Congratulations on being the best managed county on the East Coast and placing the proper talent into positions of importance. Again, Judy Dagostino has the situation firmly in hand. All first responders are once again putting their lives on the line in yeoman fashion and our elected leaders are showing themselves to be the heroes we elected! Thank you!

Suns along the Mohawk
Sunsets and sundries from the Schenectady Stockade

Flooding and sunshine in Scotia after Irene

The Mohawk River is the northern boundary of the Stockade Historic District, in Schenectady, NY. In photos taken from his backyard and on short strolls around the neighborhood, David Giacalone presents views of and from the Mohawk, Riverside Park, and the Stockade -- with lots of sunsets and whatever else captures his imagination.

I am always amazed that people are amazed that there is bad flooding along the banks of an ancient river in a turbulent Hudson River watershed. Our history of recorded time dates back to what is equivalent to a sand in the hourglass of time.  Just because the water is higher than we know of, doesn't mean this is such a "rare" incidence. Since the white man arrived here, he kept written records and thinks there was time before him. Arrogance.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Since the white man arrived here, he kept written records and thinks there was  NO TIME before him. Arrogance.

What I MEANT TO TYPE WAS "NO" time before him. Someone asked what I meant. It is like the so-called "man made global warming" where we think that the only time that existed is the time we have been measuring the temperature or measuring how high the river gets. Arrogance is the idea that this didn't happen before because in the few specks of sand in the hourglass after we stepped foot on this continent we never experienced such a calamity! All of the thousands and millions of years before we really don't know except we can determine that in so many places along the alluvial plain the soil is very good, because of the silt deposits of the Mohawk River. But we liked them for their farming value so we claimed them. And we liked the proximity to the water to build villages and stockades for trading and mutual protection. And in time we "conquered" mother nature.

Someone else discussed with me how mother nature is in imbalance for the river to go this high. Another fallacy. Before "civilization" when it rained the water soaked into the ground in the ancient primeval forests, wetlands and plains. As it reached the water table it slowly seeped into the creeks, streams and tributaries to make its way down the watershed to the ocean. "Civilization" brought with it concrete and asphalt, storm sewers that catch "storm water" and damns, reservoirs, and other "infrastructure" which in one way or another allows man to "harness" nature. Oh, but we sure know how fast we can get water INTO the river when it rains now.

So what I am saying is that for all of man's tinkering and machinations, and engineering and massive governmental control over the forces of nature, what have we proved about our ability is to "conquer" nature?

No one would even dare to criticize National Grid on their total incompetency, but I will.

Being the complete idiots they are, one of the flooded streets (North Street) NEVER lost its power. The Stockade has that a lot, one side of the street has power while the other side doesn't...and for days.

Why hasn't the City made sure that the power on the flooded streets is off?? They are risking the lives of the residents and the police & fire departments.

Everyone is laughing at Death Ray and his Metrograft idiots that wanted to put condos on an active flood plain. Thank God that was stopped.

Thank you FDG and Bob Godlewski for stopping that idiotic park in Rotterdam Junction!
