Beerfest at Proctors on Friday
August 24, 2011 at 9:41 am by Steve Barnes, senior writer

Proctors is hosting its first beer festival, called Brews & Blues and scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday (8/26) on Stratton Plaza behind the Schenectady theater. There will be food, live music, sports memorabilia and home bar accessories for sale, virtual sports games on a big screen, homebrew information and a variety of beer.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, $10 for designated drivers. For a list of participating breweries, more details and to purchase tickets,

Yes, I can see the cultural significance of having spent $10 million dollars for the proctors stage. This beerfest definitely speaks to the culture and arts this theater brings to the community.

My family will be at the Hyde, where donations promote the arts, not pervert it.

Can't wait for the Proctors gun show...

Then you can see the Picasso that the morons at the Schenectady Museum gave away.

This part of Proctor's "educational" mission. How dare you criticize Acting McCarthy's first Patroon or buffoon? Tell us again how much taxpayer money you need to keep the doors open.  The pathetic rubber stamps also allowed Bombers to sell beer on the street in October. Very urgent matter. Pit bulls problem? What pit bulls problem?

I thought I'd spit my coffee when I read this.

Looks like it is ok for proctors to have a beerfest in direct competition, in an area that is nothing but bars. And I guess beer is part of an educational/cultural program.

Anything to keep the electorate drunk and ignorant.  While people are downtown, maybe they can stop at Orions and pick up a nice new glass water bong.  Nothing says Schenectady like booze and water bongs.

Beerfests aren't a bad thing at all. Been to a few and they are fun. The concern is a tax supported, nonprofit, arts and educational center hosting a beerfest in the middle of an alleged business district that is nothing but BARS!!

Bizarre!!

How about fleecing the other bars in that area? Isn't this something that perhaps Clinton's ditch or Van Dyke should be hosting? But PROCTORS?????

We already support the city, it's called county taxes and the Metroplex.  They each get plenty, thanks.

Sure would be nice if Proctors held a JOB FAIR, or maybe a program about education and the arts for the high school students or maybe had a scholarship for kids.....

nope, beer fest for $10 million sounds about right for the level of distain the elitist have for the people who fund their salaries.
