I was just informed at the Schenectady County Board of Elections that they suddenly have a "new" policy...they are "restricting" the number of absentee ballots issued to qualified voters who exercise their option to have their ballots issued to individuals other than themselves. The limit is TWO...beyond that, they will not release the ballots unless and until the Commissioners, and only the Commissioners, have contacted the voters to "confirm".
I don't see a problem with this. I agree with Shadow.
It is to your advantage to minimize voter fraud.
This may inconvenience health care workers who have to get these forms. Most times it is the elderly and home bound that need these forms more than folks being out of town during the election so health care workers will be effected the most.

social workers will have to do it
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

Wait a minute here. Each qualified voter is only allowed to have one absentee ballot. Each voter may only vote once.
It was actually poorly worded. But I think we know what you meant.
It should be a non-issue. Ballots should be sent to the voter, in the voter's name, at the voter's address. Then, if the voter perhaps is disabled in some way and needs help, then it is up to the voter to have someone help. And typically, homebound people have a family member who visits who can then help his/her parent, grandparent, whatever, to fill out the ballot.
There really is no need for that "someone" to go to the BOE office to pick up an application. THere is ample time. It's very rare that someone perhaps would have a major stroke two days before election day and need a ballot. That's about the only time someone would need to go to the BOE office to actually pick up a ballot, but STILL it is the voter who needs to sign the ballot envelope, and if the person is in a state of mind where they don't even know their own name, or in a coma state, well, I much would rather have any BOE employee---commissioner or not---see to it that it is the voter who is making the application rather than some sneaky political crony.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
