MY gf called me from work to ask if I felt an earthquake...
I responded:
"That wasn't an earthquake... what you felt was an aftershock leftover from the sex that we had this morning.   I'm that good!"...

She didn't buy it

I remember two earthquakes in this area... the first one was a sudden shock, then a rumble and very violent that rattled the dishes and windows (I think that one was in the 80's).
This one was more of a rolling motion and gentle.

You are correct on that one Box. The first rattled dishes and this one made a heavy door that was open swing back and forth.

I remember the one in the 80's in the early morning hours,  I lived in an upstairs flat that had the old school space heater and it started shaking violently.

There was another after don't remember when where my Mom called to tell me the water in her fish tank was rolling back and forth.

Thankfully no one seriously hurt today : )

After the quake was watching news coverage on NBC, and the reporter stated some people had actually had the thought that a terrorist act was being commited.   Just proves that terrorism is never far from ones thoughts.   They've left their mark now and forever.

East Coast Earthquake Strongest Since 1944

MINERAL, Va. — Tens of millions of people from Georgia to Canada were jolted Tuesday by the strongest earthquake to strike the East Coast since World War II. Three weeks before the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, office workers poured out of New York skyscrapers and the Pentagon, relieved it was nothing more sinister than an act of nature.

There were no known deaths or serious injuries, but cracks appeared in the Washington Monument and the National Cathedral, which had three capstones break off its tower. Windows shattered and grocery stores were wrecked in Virginia, where the quake was centered. The White House and Capitol were evacuated.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake registered magnitude 5.8. By West Coast standards, that is mild. But the East Coast is not accustomed to earthquakes at all, and this one unsettled .......................>>>>....................>>>>>....................................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/23/east-coast-earthquake-the_n_934826.html

Earthquake Does Less Damage to Washington than Eric Cantor
Majority Leader's Devastation Felt Across Nation

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – Seismologists said today that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered in Virginia did less damage to Washington, D.C. than House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, also centered in Virginia.

“The earthquake and Eric Cantor originate from almost the identical point,” said Dr. Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota’s Seismology Institute. “But while the earthquake caused some minor shaking, there’s only one word for Eric Cantor’s impact: devastation.”

As residents of Washington picked through the rubble left behind by Rep. Cantor, some questioned whether it made sense to rebuild.

“What’s the point? Congress will be back from recess in a few days and then he’ll just knock everything down again,” one resident said.

While rumbling from the quake extended to states as far-flung as New York and Ohio, Rep. Cantor’s path of destruction has wreaked damage on almost every state in the country, Dr. Logsdon said.

“The only state he hasn't destroyed is Wisconsin,” he said. “That’s because there was nothing left of it after it was hit by Scott Walker.”

Is this the same douchebag that is also from the U of Minnesota's Marital Behavior Institute?
Meanwhile, in Martha's Vineyard, President Obama and Queen Michelle are trying to come up with a way to waste even more money and double greenhouse gas emissions by having their entourages leave 15 minutes apart and return in Washington via the long path.. across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans...

After and extensive investigation the Dems in Washington have determined that the earthquake was due to a previous unknown fault and was determined to be Bush's fault that caused it.

Borowitz must have come from the East thinking he could make us like the East.

Logsdon? Well, his name speaks for itself,

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
