Metroplex deserves credit for Cornell’s support

Re July 21 article, “Friends to take over renowned restaurant”: With Cornell’s Restaurant facing certain foreclosure, Metroplex was in a no-win situation on their unsecured loan.
I would like to thank them for being extremely supportive in helping us secure an arrangement with ATF, holder of the city tax lien. Metroplex often takes a lot of heat from the media (in particular a local AM radio station) for making bad loans. Unfortunately, the media doesn’t always report the positives that have resulted from their efforts.
To list a few: 35 jobs saved (no unemployment checks), assuring $125,000 sales tax revenue (shared with the city, county and state), and keeping a vibrant part of Little Italy alive and well (not yet-another vacant building in the city). Again, thanks.

GEORGE RYON
Schenectady The writer is one of the partners who has taken over Cornell’s. The other is John E.N. Hume III, publisher of the Gazette.

"Assuring $125K in sales tax revenue"??? Just a little advice here George, you have to PAY IT in order for the taxpayers to BENEFIT from it (Cornells still owes $160K to the Dept of Taxation).

Also, Metroplex has nothing to do with ATF (American Tax), ANYONE can strike a deal with them. Therefore, someone at the Plex was probably collecting overtime when the ATF were contacted - something Mr. Ryon could have done on his own.

Please, the Plex couldn't have more egg on its face. Another unsecured loan, another case of fiscal incompetence.

What the hell is this idiot talking about? They are in State tax foreclosure! No taxes are being paid and Metrograft was totally screwed. No one ever repays Metrograft morons. Now like failed Obama, we are counting "saved" jobs, since no new jobs are ever created.

Metrograft is a total failure. Ripping off the overtaxed County sheeple by over $100 MILLION. No new jobs-no new revenue created. Flushed on the "arts", on curbing and on tax giveaways to connected bakers and taco makers.

Well according to the Demokratz campaign fliers dispersed over this past weekend the "new jobs" now top 5,000 and I'm sure
these imaginary jobs will continue to increase with every Demokrat campaign - LMAO...they went from 2,000 to 3,500 to the
current figure of 5,000 over the last couple of local election cycles... while residents and businesses alike continue to flee from
DVOR's idea of renewed paradise.

The DEMS admitted they totally make up job figures. The Downtown  jewelry shoppe was supposed to add 20 new jobs-they had one part timer before they fled Downtown. Another classic was CardioMag where "hundreds of new jobs were to be created". The real figure was 12 before fleeing to Latham. Proctor's alone supposedly created 3,000 new jobs-lol. In reality County unemployment is the highest in the area and the highest since the great depression. Where are the jobs Judy DAG?

A young friend of mine was actively searching for a job maybe a year and a half ago. He visited the One Stop center as he was serious and didn't want to leave any stone unturned. You would think that they would have lots of jobs to show him considering how fast jobs were being created, but they couldn't help him.
He has a job now, but not in Schenectady County.

I think they should just say "a million jobs." No one in the press would challenge it, and with the editor of the Gazette as much as having his business partner doing a shill dance for them, you can pretty much guarantee it. TU just doesn't care and Spock-lite is busy running a segment on A-Jello's new collection of hand sewn silk kitchen aprons that he designed and is auctioning off for charity.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

ROTFLMAO!! It's all totally made up. There are no new jobs in this County, outside of County make work positions. A DEM "leader" admitted that they just make up numbers since nobody in the media bothers to check. The fact that the Gazetto would even publish such a factual incorrect letters speaks volumes. Everyone knows the gig is up except the last DEM holding the bag.

There is great progress going on and I expect that with it will come some sort of justice in the distribution of incomes. Our new mayor is on the stick and a man of great political skills and a solid, solid resume. I can't see bringing in tea party myths as solving things at all. I don't want to vary off the path of good moderate conservatism that we are on coupled with progressive attitudes toward the working families. Our area has a lot to offer and I am heartened that things are going better already with the recent changes in the country and city as well.

The blight on our city streets is progress....  All those abandoned houses can be knocked down for large industry to move in.

Oh wait, with the obscene tax rates in this state, the only way that happens is with massive state and local incentives.

Never mind.

Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The gazette should be on their hands and knees thanking the homeowners, those residents in the city struggling to hold on to their homes while being ROBBED
