Three arrested in Rotterdam after driving stolen car

ROTTERDAM -- Three people were arrested after driving and abandoning a stolen car.
Early Monday morning, a Rotterdam police officer saw a suspicious vehicle on Chepstow Road.  As he approached the vehicle to investigate, the car drove off heading for Hamburg Street.
Rotterdam Police checked the area and found the vehicle abandoned on 2nd Avenue.  A registration check found that the vehicle, a 2001 Toyota RAV4, had been stolen on Sunday.  Police say the occupants who fled the vehicle were located by another officer and taken into custody.
16-year-old Wayne Samuels, 17-year-old Jamal Collins, and 17-year-old Corey Eriole were arrested.  They were also found to be in possession of stolen property from prior larcenies committed in Rotterdam.

This sounds like racial profiling a bit but I will never second guess the first responders because they do have a tough job. Could the state do something that teaches them better sensitivity to the needs of the minority community? Yes. The answer is yes. However leader that are in political office such as the mayor and others already are and have been working on these very tough solutions and deserve the public's confidence and support to come up with these solutions further along.
