So does that mean Sue Savage paid her sales tax on her signs in Pennsylvania or she she pay it in Schenectady County? Could you answer that? Because is her campaign has it's nexus here in this county then she owes use tax on it in Schenectady County, not Pennsylvania where they came from.

I could answer the question -- but you are an a**hole -- so I won't answer it.

Obviously,  MC is a moron when it comes to basic economics --- so here is a simple explanation for the ignoramus  --- Sales Tax is collected when a person purchases a product or certain services. If the total sales tax collected GOES UP .. that means that more goods (and, in some cases, services) were purchased.   Escpecially since the total went up 12%  -- which is waaaaay more than the rate of inflation (so the idiot can't use the argument that the amount collected is only up because of inflation).

Oh -- and I am pretty sure that a significant amount of those sales tax revenues were generated by the numerous Metroplex financed projects which have opened and serve to create jobs and generate sales tax revenue.  All those folks going to  the Proctor's, Paul Mitchell Salon,  the Recovery Room, Bomber's,  etc.

The Renaissance is picking up steam.

Oh, would we expect any less from TOTAL IGNORAMUS DV??????    DV does NOT know what he is talking about.   Pennies on a drink are NOT going to result in big money for the county.  But people in Schenectady LEAVE THE COUNTY to make BIG purchases but pay Schenetady sales tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you claim all the sales tax has been generated by downtown, well, PROVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!    Post here with the official details from the state of New York.   And be sure to show how much one given business brings in and how much tax exemption they receive.

DV., the businesses downtown do NOT bring in much sales tax at all.  YOU are the ignoramus.    People LEAVE THE CITY to make purchases.  Tell us DV, I have asked you before and you REFUSE to provide answers.   Tell us where in downtown people can buy things they NEED.   Where to they buy clothes, footwear, outerware, business attire, school clothes, school supplies, computers and related, music/DVDs, bedding, bath needs, linens, dining needs (dishes, flatware, glasses, pots and pans), craft needs, draperies, funiture, pet needs, hardware and tools, lawn and garden needs, craft needs, seasonal decorating, etc etc.??????    Well?????   Tell us where people can buy these things downtown????    Huh???????   Huh?????    Huh???????    Huh??????   Where, DV, where?????????

And tell us what jobs were CREATED.....NOT which ones were moved from one location to another.  What jobs are there DV?????   Well????    What jobs have been CREATED with EXCLUSIVELY PRIVATE spending??????    Huh???????   HUH???????    HUH???????     HUH???????     HUH???????     HUH???????    HUH???????    Well, got an answer??????

And tell us how many people have bought homes in the city as a result of all the spending downtown??????    Huh???????    Tell us DV

And tell us DV, what has the spending on dowtown done for the property taxes and property values?????   YOU NEVER ANSWER THIS QUESTION EITHER!!!   Why not?????  Obviously you refuse to answer this because you are much too chicken and embarrassed to admit that values and plummeting in the city and taxes are skyrocketing.

Sales tax is up in the businesses that pay no property taxes maybe.  Go to Bombers for Happy Hour - all their beers are $3 a pint - and I'm talking ALL DRAFT BEER - from Bud to Sam Adams to Smithwicks and Heineken.  THAT'S AN UNBELIEVABLE PRICE!  Nobody paying full property taxes in the City could stay open charging that price for micro brews or imports.  But...When you don't have to pay property taxes - you can afford to undercut your competitors.

The real indicator isn't total revenue, its sales tax receipts or number of transactions.  With the price of commodities going up over the past years, sales tax revenue would increase proportionately.

In other words "you don't know." That tells us a lot.

Sales taxes are up because gasoline prices have exploded under horrible Obama. It proves absolutely nothing. These idiots have nothing else to cheer about so they are happy gas taxes are up. The State average increase was 8% per County.

Since sales taxes revenues are up how much will the County working together DEM morons cut property taxes? lol-They are planning a minimum $9 million a year increase for 20 years to pay for SS Savage's County Home. So you will pay at the pump and pay more in property taxes.

Once again, one of the Truth Tellers on this board blows DV out, by providing proof.  DV never provides proof.  Still waiting for DV to provide to proof that shows that most of it came from downtown.

Well DV?????

And yes, the fact that they are tax exempt DOES makes it unfair for others.   And the fact that the homeowners are robbed of their hard earned money is equally unfair

The last time we heard that there was a record for sales tax collected, there were also record high gas prices. It seemed that some people were lumping the two together (gas tax and retail sales tax) to make it look as if the politicians had done something great for us instead of doing something about the windfall profit made whenever gas goes up. As far as Schenectady increasing more than Saratoga, if it is true, I believe people who live close to the border often buy gas in Schenectady when the price is high.
If you pay higher tax in order to give it to businesses that are tax exempt to generate more sales tax, that isn't really helpful to the local taxpayer, is it?

Of course not.   But then, adult men who are mama's boys, not living as adults independent of their mama or mama figures, not working, not paying taxes, not owning a house, well, they wouldn't understand it.   But the Truth Tellers know

Who said that "most of the sales tax revenues come from downtown" ???     Not me --- but sales tax is generated  by stores, restaurants, bars and other businesses downtown ... and there are MORE businesses today downtown than there were when the GOP ran the city and the county 8 years ago.

Just admit it --- Hugh and Bob Farley .. Al Jurzynski and Joe Surhada were miserable failures during their time in elective office.

working together not only works --- its produces results

Uh DV, they were NOT failure.   They just chose NOT to tax the homeowners to the point where they lose their homes.   They chose to keep taxes in check.  Even though taxes rose, they still weren't anywhere near as high as today.

The ONLY reason there are A FEW businesses downtown is because YOUR SOCIALIST buddies just robbed the homeowners blind.  The businesses would NOT have moved here IF your socialist buddies did not steal from the taxpayers.

You claim the reps were failures:????     Uh, how many houses were vacant back then????    How many people were fleeing the city?   Huh?    Answer that DV?

Open your eyes and look around, see all the houses that are for sale, see all the hosues that sit for over a year with no buyers.

And the businesses downtown for sure didn't even bring in one percennt of dollars that make up that 12% increase.   Downtown businesses probably don't even generate one percent of one percent of all sales tax in the whole county.   Maybe a little more, but I wouldn't go by a newspaper that's beholden to the city socialists,  The taxpayers have an entitlement to see the numbers from official sources

Al Jurzynski made some mistakes, he may have been out of his depth a little, but I would rather pay for a hard working mayor (and pay less salary, BTW) who made some HONEST mistakes than pay for a deceitful one who was actively working against the taxpaying resident and for himself. Anyway, who was on the city council when Al was in office?
If Al had been mayor when that man was looking for his missing brother, he would have gone into the building HIMSELF, if necessary. Also, Al did try tostop the use of Schenectady as a dumping ground for all the State's problems, but local politicians can't fight the poverty industry alone.

Hugh Farley has voted YES over 500 times to raise your taxes.

Hugh Farley has voted for numerous UNFUNDED STATE MANDATES that have been foisted on the backs of tax payers in EVERY municipality and county in the state --

Hugh Farley has taken in multiple tens of thousands of dollars in campaign funding from Banks and Financial Firms  while leading the Senate Finance Committee ---- he takes the campaign cash and then sets the rules that made the bankers and financial firms wealthy ... while the rest of us are treading water due to the fiscal crisis that they started.

and don't forget the state jobs that Hugh Farley set his son up in ..  and the high-priced vacations to Hawaii and Disney World that Hugh Farley took -- and made state taxpayers pay for.

Bob Farley has been happy to take every dollar for Glenville that he can lay his hands on --- but complains about  spending if anyone proposed a county-funded project in another part of the county.

Ronnie Severe, do you purchase those straws that attach to the anal cavities of the democrapic criminal gang leaders you hang with or do they hand them out for free to the little butt suckers like you at the downtown communist-gang hall?
