Really???????? You are going to bash our country today of all days!?!?!? GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF IT'S SO BAD HERE! IN THE MEAN TIME THE REST OF US WILL CONTINUE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 10 YEARS AGO!
Please...IT HAS BEEN 10 YEARS!!! Is there a statute of limitations on how long between national tragedies before you can begin questioning the policies of government without being called "unpatriotic" or "Un-American"? I can only speak for myself, but if the government media complex thinks they can continually stir my emotions on every 9/11 to create unquestioning nationalist sentiment, they are mistaken. I love this country as much as the next American, and I recognize 9/11 for the horrific tragedy that is was, but I won't be browbeaten into submission by throwing September 11th in my face.
If there is anything we should have learned 10 years later after 9/11, is that the government is STILL scaring American's with warnings about "potential" terror attacks. The fact there were terror alerts days leading up to the 10th anniversary of 9/11 should be the hallmark of America's misguided foreign policies and fight on terror. The only fight our government has won, was that of taking away American liberties, freedom, and privacy, in the name of "safety".
How about we remember 6/8/56 - that is the Pentagon's official recognition of the first US casualty of the Vietnam War. Leading to a grand total of 211,664 American's killed or wounded. These weren't Muslim terrorists in the caves of Afghanistan that killed our boys, but OUR leaders sending our boys halfway around the world, and dropped into some godforsaken jungle. And for what?
Wake up America...We are losing our liberties...One more "national tragedy", and Americans unquestioning nationalism could lead America on the same path of the Weimar Republic.(If we aren't already there)
Were it not for the government conceived in 1789, this country would not be what it is. It is precisely BECAUSE of the government conceived by those writing under this name in 1789 that you are able to live your lives the way you do. To say our country is separate from our government is to completely ignore the exercise in democracy so many gave their lives to create, restore, protect, and to ensure it would, and will continue to, endure for generations.
Whether you have issue with those individuals currently elected by your fellow citizen is no defense to criticizing the system of government under which you live. You live under a government that ensures that it is a government of, by, and for the people. If you do not like the decisions made by those currently in office, convince your fellow man that you are right and they are wrong and elect those whom you believe espouse the ideas and policies most appropriate for the times. The wonder, and beauty, of this government is that those making the decisions are chosen by, and report to, the public. By definition, if they are in office, they have the support of the majority of the public. To criticize this system of government, is beyond comprehension, let alone doing so on this day.
The reason the US is the greatest country in the world is because the government under which it is governed is the greatest in the world. Were it not for the freedoms and liberties guaranteed by this government, the US could not be the greatest country in the world. It is true that, unlike in any other place on earth, this government obtained its right from the people, rather than the reverse. However, that is the intrinsic truth of this government and why this system of government is unmatched anywhere in the world.
Dislike the people? Vote them out! The intrinsic greatness of this system of government is that you have the right to do that!
The posts to which I reply were not questioning policy. The exact quote was "Screw the government." If you cannot see the difference between debating policy and saying "screw the government," I cannot help you. Though you have the right to say whatever the hell you want, I have the right to tell you how absurd it is!
One can't even compare the early government to what it has become today. Something has to be changed when it is found out that dead people, felons, and those not eligible to vote swing elections to put people into office illegally. Yes we are the greatest country in the world but if things aren't changed we won't be for much longer. We need government to take care of those duties given to them by the Constitution but over time it's evolving into a massive blanket that's beginning to smother us all.

This is why the democrap is a liar and a criminal. He sets up the argument based upon his communistic and tyrannical desires and uses an utter LIE as the basis for any and all discussion. Our governmnt neither GIVES US or GUARANTEES our freedom.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Are you and black spidey the same? I did't say "screw the government"...and you didn't respond "screw the government" Black Spidey did.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
That is just where the word guarantee is actually used, now if you read some books...perhaps books they make you read in government studies or (shudder) law school, you'd realize that the bill of rights guarantees rights, 14th, 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th directly guarantee rights.
They don't give rights, I never said they did. But those sections of the Constitution guarantee your rights, for if that right is violated the government must take whatever action is necessary to ensure the right isn't violated. Whether that requires the US Govt to sue a state for violating the right to vote by minorities, or whether it requires the president to send the military to a school to protect a black child's right to education, the government guarantees many rights--whether you want to believe it, or not!
Cicero, I didn't realize only one person can respond to a comment. I lurk here a lot but rarely post. When I saw that, I felt the need to respond. To be clear, I was responding to ditcher.
I don't think anyone is asking for your help.....spidey!!

We will see how great the system really is and if it is peacefully self correcting. The fundamental change in the American governing philosophy that took place 100 years ago, that changed America into two parties with similar socialist ideologies, will not be easily removed. The socialist structure and the bureaucrats that run them, that has been put in place over the last century isn't going to roll over to a TRUE limited government philosophy of people like Ron Paul. We see this as we watch these staged debates, where the media is telling the American people who our choices are for the Republican Party candidate. Eight candidates on stage, 2 candidates get the lions share of the questions. Our nation is beginning to look like the Soviet Union where the choice was between two communist candidates that were hand picked by the Party and propagandized by the state controlled media.
Changing America peacefully through election will remain to be seen. We can only hope that the size of the state hasn't gotten so large that they can manipulate the citizen in order to maintain their power in the state.
The fact is and almost all americans agree....that american government is NOT only what it use to be....but not even close!!! Again.........9/11 was the blow back from legislation, wars and decisions made by OUR government!!!
It's been TEN years and 'we the people' are still hearing the rhetorical fear tactics from both the left and the right which ultimately is taking away our liberties daily!!!
I agree with ditcher and so do most americans!! WAKE UP!!

Bumble...If most americans agreed with you the majority of the government would be like minded with you....Logic dictates that the majority does not agree with you...
