I would prefer to be on an upper floor overlooking the river -- and I agree they will increase in value.

I paid cash for the properties that I do own -- and I think that a riverfront condo in Schenectady would be a nice base for short visits -- I already have another property in which to enjoy the rest of my retirement.

Just like most of the cheerleaders for Schenectady - they don't live or pay taxes in the City - they just go to their little homes in other 'safer' communities.

Not paying what we pay, not seeing what we see on a daily basis.

If you were true to your words, you would live in the City, the place of this "Renaissance". But you don't so you're a hypocrite, and your word has as much value as used toilet paper.

My family (on my mother's side) has lived in Rotterdam since over 90 years -- Rotterdam is our home .. but I am a proud resident of Schenectady County and I am happy to support a parish and businesses in the City of Schenectady.    

I have probably done more volunteer work for organizations that are located in and benefit the City of Schenectady than  99% of the residents of the city.   That is because I am not  a parochial, myopic troglodyte like you and your nayboob friends.

So before you call anyone a hypocrite -- roll up your sleeves and volunteer to improve your community  or shut the heck up.

What does since over 90 years mean . I think It means you dont own anything in this area  . You pay taxes on nothing in this area . Why dont you go get involved in the communities  where you have your own money on the line?
