The sales tax that Metroplex takes from all of us is on top of all the taxes that the people are already paying, what part of too high taxes don't you see. The people who live in the city get almost nothing for all the money they pay in taxes unless you count horrible roads, empty houses, and high crime they have plenty of that.

You don't know how to have a rational discussion.   I was responding to the assertion that someone made that the residents of the city pay some extra tax to Metroplex --- the fact is the residents of the city do NOT pay an extra tax to Metroplex. I was also countering the claim that the Nayboobs made that because I live in a neighboring town -- I don't pay to support Metroplex -- the FACT is that my sales tax goes to support Metroplex .. just as much as the city residents' sales tax goes to support Metroplex.

Bottomline --- the ALCO site is getting cleaned up ... the new housing and commercial/retail space will be a great asset for the city -- and the county.   Keep up the great work .. Metroplex.

Excuse me, DV but the residents DO INDEED pay taxes VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY HEFTY taxs for all these Metroplex projects.   Again, as you are not a homeowners, and not a taxpayer, you wouldd not understand taxes.   Yes, the residents pay sales tax.  However, the city residents among the highest property and school taxes in the whole country.   You see, since YOUR dem socialist buddies wanted to exempt their cronies who were beneficiaries of all the projects to date, your "Mayor full of BS" knew the city needed money for it's own servivces, so he  decided to DOUBLE TAX the city residents for trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    But againk, as you are not a homowner nor taxpayer, you wouldn't undrestand those things.

Virtually all of Metroplex projects are 100% exempt from paying property and school taxes.   SOOOOO    DV, tell us WHERE, tell us WHERE does the city make up the difference in lost tax revenue????????????    Huh??????    HUH???????     HUH???????    HUH??????????    DV, IT COMES FROM THE REsIDENTS OF THE CITY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   And, if you would only  open your eyes DV and see the FACTS, you would see that there are fewer and fewer people paying those taxres because homeowners are fleeing the city in droves

DV, if all those Metroplex projects would pay their own taxes, then the RATE would decrease and the tax BILLS on the homeowners would decrease.

And tell us WHY DV, WHY should homeonwers who cannot afford to fix up their own homes pay for the fixing up of buildings owned by millionaires??????    Tell us WHY, DV, WHY should homeowners with incomes of $30,000 who have to pay for their own property & school taxes pay for the property & school taxes of the millionaires????>    Tell us WHY, DV, WHY should the homeonwers with incomes of $30,000 pay for the property taxres on a building owned by Paul Mitchell who is worth BILLIONS?????

It must be really nice to not work, live with and off of others who are very generously compensated courtesy of the taxpayers (pension twice the amount of a the income of typical whole family in the city); but because of that you have no concept whatsoever, no idea, no understanding at all of how the homeowners struggle to pay their bills, you just keep supporting increasing the financial burden on the city homeowners in order to have more tax money to go rich political cronies and build your socialist downtown

And by the way DV, you still have not answered the question asked many times.   The city haa WAY MORE vacant housing than it can handle.   And people are leaving the city in droves.

So tell us how building more housing in a city with way too much existing vacant housing is going to be good?     It's just going to be another increase in taxes for the city homeowners and even more people will leave the city leaving fewer people to pay the taxes which will increase the taxes even more and then even more people will leave the city and it will continue over and over again

Get your facts straight  ---Metroplex receives its funding through a portion of the sales tax -- NOT the property tax.  A person does not have to own property to purchase items and thus pay sales tax.    It really is a very simple concept to understand ... most monkeys understand it ... except the he-she monkey.

Also, one does not have to be the property owner of record to contribute money to  the property owner(s) of record for the payment of the property tax.   There are many married couples in town that have the house in one or the other spouse's name   -- I know of one stay-at-home mom who has the house in her name and her husband works to pay all of the family expenses including the tax bill.

Apparently, MC has something against family values --- but that is par for the course for the Nattering Nayboobs  and Tea Party folks   (NNTP)   -- they are bunch of hypocrites and want to interfere in the private lives of everyone.     Here is my advice to you -MC - go f*** yourself.

On the subject of tax exemptions, doesn't anyone remember that Jerry Jennings over in Albany has been whining for years about all the tax exempt property in Albany, because of the State? It was his excuse for many of the less than desirable conditions Albanians are faced with. So, if Jennings finds tax exempt properties SUCH a problem, why would Schenectady, just down the road and presumably aware of Albany's problems, go ahead and CREATE the very same problem here?

Perception is a funny thing. It plays an important part in how we come to know things- how to tell what is true.  This nasty person you are referring to has been called d1ckhead, sh1thead, pekerhead, and everything in between.  He is  the object of  3rd grade name calling and personal crap about domestic life, his  personal life , his aunt for crying out loud - so come on really  can any of you expect to be taken seriously ? .

but I guess its never to late to  raise the decency bar- but i doubt it will happen here- the knucklehead DNA is everywere

We aren't even sure if that poster is a human or a lower form of life, actually. So why get your panties in a bunch?

What is an EXTRA tax?

And this is not an extra (aka additional) tax that is burdened upon you whether you want it or not?

Bottomline --- the ALCO site is getting cleaned up ... the new housing and commercial/retail space will be a great asset for the city -- and the county.

Hopefully, but this will be proven out in the long run, something that has not fared well for the Democratic teams in the county as of late.  Luckily for them, there's a bunch of people who only vote the party line and that's what they will be counting on this November, instead of people being informed voters because an informed voter would NEVER see what is currently happening, and enjoy it and approve of it's continuation of the ripping apart of the city and the surrounding county.

Keep up the great work .. Metroplex.[/quote]

Great work... yeah, that's ONE way to say it...

Kevin, your buddies among the NNNs mistakenly believe that the city resident pay an additional tax to metroplex -- over and above the portion of the local sales tax -- that is the "extra tax" i was referring to

There's an "extra tax" in the city if Metroplex properties come off the tax rolls. Also we seem to have stopped getting services like snowplowing etc. since Metroplex came into being even though we still pay for them. While not technically an extra tax, if our elected officials neglect their responsibilities to the taxpayer because they have found something else they feel like concentrating on instead, we are losing out, money-wise.

Actually, DV, YOU are the one who is WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    Metroplex had not been receiving funding through a portion of the sales tax.   NO DV, rather an EXTRA TAX is what they receive funding from

The sales tax was INCREASED in order to pay for Metroplex projects.

But, at the time of discussions of setting up Metroplex and people spoke pro and con, NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE EVER EVER EVER EVER imagined and a mayor and council would choose to tax residents TWICE for trash collection  (YES DV, they are TAXED TWICE for trash collection).   But more importantly NO ONE EVER knew that a one party socialist dictatorship would ome in and exempt all the rich downtown millionaires, and the political crony developers from paying property and school taxes resulting in the homeowners from not only having to pay their own increasing taxes but to ALSO pay EXTRA TAX to cover the property & school taxes of the millionaires.

Once again, DV, pleas perovide reasons WHY the millionaires and billioniares should not have to pay their taxes, but that their taxes should be forced upon people with incoes of $30,000 a year.   Tell us that, DV.   Answer that or are you too chicken

Explain WHY millionaires should get millions to fix up buildings they own, but nothing for the homeowner and then the homeowner gets financially penalized for code issues simply because they dont' have the money to fix their homes----becase the homeowners must pay for the fixing up of the buildings of the millionaires.

Answer those questions DV

And again, you still refuse to answer.  WHY build new housing when there is more than enough EXISTING VACANT housing than the city can deal with?

You are right. A pile of bricks, with no real plan, is much better than an industrial site where thousands of people worked for generations-lol. The pile of bricks will soon flee the County to be used in a growing community. The idea of building more surplus housing on industrial zoned land is typical of the DEM morons pretending to be planners around here.

Planners with no planning credentials whatsoever. Then they can start a park. Then they build another governmental gin mill. Then they can build a coffeehouse. No jobs-no problemo. What has happened to the DEM party of Senator Humphrey? He understood blue collar job creation. Taken over locally by a bunch of liberal wackado's who are more interested in picking up litter with a stick then providing an environment for real job creation.

Putting all the tax issues aside and where the funding comes from etc., here is what I am confused by....
(1) Build housing or offices or warehouses on otherwise vacant run down property to attract WHO? If we are not attracting "people" to move into the state, let alone into Schdy, then where will these "occupants" come from.  If they are local they move from where they are to the new place...usually they are in run down areas, and sooner or later the new place will suffer the same ruins.
(2) Build offices for WHAT COMPANIES and BUSINESSES......we can't get new business to come into the state let alone the area.  Majority of business being attracted to the state/area are doing it for tax incentives!!!! so the tax base will suffer for that period of time...and when tax incentives are gone, the businesses are not far behind, moving to another tax shelter location.
(3) Warehouses FOR WHAT? It's not like Schdy is a hot bed of local commerce anymore.  Warehousing is moving into rural areas where land is more abundant and not locked between developments and total costs of ownership are lower anyway.....head down the Thruway west and look on the right side......see that HUGE GIGANTIC BUILDING....it's a distribution warehouse.  Now what do you think the taxes on that building would be if it were in Schdy, assuming of course that they could find a suitable location for that size structure and access requirements and that they would be taxed and not receive tax exemption as incentive to move.....COST PROHIBITIVE!

OKAY, that's my rant.  and just to be clear, Schdy is not exclusive to this situation.  It's happening all over NYS, once the most powerful industrial state in the nation and today a welfare and tax burdened state trying to tread water.

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!
JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
