Proctor's is a NATIONAL TREASURE ...  every penny spent on saving, restoring and -now - improving the facility has been a great investment.    Other cities wish they had a facility like Proctor's --- but they don't -- because they didn't have leaders like Karen Johnson and others who had the foresight to save Proctor's from the wrecking ball.

I know that the lunatic fringe - as represented by MC and GB and Rachel and other nayboobs - hate the arts .. they hate anything that is culturally uplifting .. in that way they prove themselves to be  troglodyte, anti-intelligensia, right-wing goose-steppers that everyone knows they are.

They can't answer Smoking Bananas' question -- what would you suggest?  Because they have no clue how to achieve economic redevelopment .. the only thing that they know how to do is trash talk our community and tearit down ... in that way they are as bad as the drug-dealers and gang-members.    It is time we swept ALL of the negative element out ...

ALCO should become an industry, Gillen should have secured a company to come to Schenectady. The City need to put people to work, not put them in condos.

The City keeps giving handouts when it should be using the Plex money to help people by bringing jobs, bringing industry and bringing it's people a chance to get off of services.

That's how you keep people in Schenectady, give them a chance to succeed!

Awwww  poor DV aka Smoking Bananas aka GravelneedsaGirddle.   he's wondering where his welfare housing is going to go.

Let's see what will happen to the property values of the yet to be buit condos will be when they see how high the taxes are, how tigh the crime is, and how high the water will be.

The plex, the city, and the county INSIST on STEALING from the taxpayers, with no approval from the taxpayers, and just building some useless condos that could get flooded again.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Condos on stilts. How do the seniors get the wheelchairs and walkers up 12 feet of stairs? Or will the ramps wind around the building 2 times to keep the slope to code?

Once in 500 years, That is comforting.

Having viewed  "Lake Alco" at it's height (depth) during the flood, one can only wonder about all the polluted, cancer causing soil that was washed away, not to mention all the uncollected debris, again enviromentally unsafe, that was deposited down river to all the unsuspecting shoreline home owners property.   Who in their right mind would consider buying a condo there especially once they see the flood pictures.   I'm sure any self respecting realtor would have to advise potential buyers of this possibility.   I beg to differ on the use of the 100/500 year flood equation.   The river has backed up with icebergs in the past during the WINTER thaw at Freemans Bridge as well ,causing flooding, not just at the RR bridge in the Stockade.    So it is entirely feasible for flooding at the Alco site from jam ups at Freemans Bridge.  In the past the use of a wrecking ball was used to break up a jam up at Freemans Bridge.   So flooding is NOT just a 100/500 year occurence, it is an ongoing YEARLY concern.   But rest assured this has all been taken into consideration?   Potential future Alco condo buyers need only to have surveyed the Stockade flood damage to realize the flood waters wrath.

Death Ray and co. like their pie- in the sky. It won't ever happen. No one will ever live there. Every election season it has to be trotted out as a 'new' sign of the democrap lie they call "renaissance" which is a false, phony fraud they keep perpetuating on the ignorant voters who have better dreams of yesterday and who can be hoodwinked into believing that they are building wonderful castles (on foundations of jello unbeknownst to them.) Actually this flood is a good thing for their lie machine (SB and DV are employed in that office but only SB collects a county check) because they can soft sell this as something that will make the project take longer! Didn't you hear Bilko say "We will be raising the grade" or some other story, quicker than Mario Andretti and before the water even receded (which I am sure is a direct result of their engineers being able to offer a solution withing 'hours' of the flood LOL.) So this allows the giant lie to be stretched out and dragged out and pulled and twisted in new ways and it simply offers the democrap lie factory a chance to get more election cycles out of the entire thing since the voters will forget the flood in about 12 minutes and go back to Doritos and welfare cheese and texting their baby mommas.

I want to draw your attention to one bit of evidence that it already is going in the direction I stated. Does anyone remember how when Lumpy was running for office they trotted this whole thing out and dragged Schumer here with the promise of a TV camera to talk into? Do you remember how there was guy representing some Pennsylvania developer who was doing this whole thing, now all of a sudden it is so shocking- it is Galezzi!?! So in other words, this was a set up from the word "go." There will not be riverfront condos and waterfront living and all that bunk. Wake up, Lies Inc. wants you asleep

The truth is............it is obviously a flood prone area and NO ONE is going to come to schenectady and invest in that area. Again this is a short sighted and misquided idea. And if Galezzi develops this area, they will lose credibility as a developer. IMHO

So, Proctor's wasn't saved by Morris now? It's been around much longer than he has? Just as I thought.
Speaking of hating "the arts", my family and I have a higher than average level of involvement with "the arts". Lion King is Disney, isn't it? Hardly bringing culture to the masses, IMO.
Isn't that Judy Atchinson a world class musician or something? Yet she doesn't seem too impressed with all the fiddling around downtown, does she?
Hmm. How can that be?

yep. might as well as bulldoze SCCC and the area around the river, as it always floods. guess mankind is too damn stupid to not build near the water.

but, as for alco, the project will go forward, and we look forward to seeing all of youse there at the ribbon cutting..

galesi is too smart to let a little flood stop a multi-million project --

ah renaissance.. thy name is Alco.

Galesi is more than willing to clean up the ALCO site to take advantage of sales tax-free materials, getting unsecured Plex loans and investing none of his own money in a project which will cost the taxpayers millions to build and millions in lost property and school taxes.

It's sad. The only true cleaning house Galesi and many of the other Downtown businesses have done is to the taxpayers.
