Didn't something like this happen before?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Gary Hughes is the biggest tool in the County Legislature. He served on the worst school bored in the State and then vaulted onto the County Leg. The only camera present was not working! Thank you DEM working together team for your brilliant crime solving techniques. Too bad it's wasn't operational or manned!

Madame X is right-again. It had to be an inside job. No one else knew what if anything was in that safe. Our that they had a safe. Only incompetents keep large amounts in the safe and don't have a night deposit system. I don't know about Proctor's but there was another Metrograft disaster knocked off in very similar suspicious circumstances.

In order to make a night deposit, one would have to count the cash received at night and prepare the deposit slips ---  many businesses do NOT do that at night  but place it in a safe .. and then count it and prepare the deposit the NEXT business day.

Also -- no amount of whining and tantrums from the nattering nayboobs of negativity can change the FACT that Proctor's is drawing a HUGE amount of persons to big shows and other offerings in its arts complex.   PROCTOR'S IS A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS  AND WORTH EVERY PENNY OF TAX-DOLLARS INVESTED.   Personally, I believe additional tax dollars need to be given to Proctor's to enhance its offerings.

So if they are drawing huge crowds and are a tremendous success, then why would they need more tax dollars.  Being a success in business means being self sustaining to support your ongoing activities and requirements and funding for future endeavors and expansions.....so again, WHY DO THEY NEED MORE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!!!!!!!

According to the  Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity,  NOBODY goes to Proctor's -- so if NOBODY goes to Proctor's would have been nothing in the office to take.

The FACT is that Proctor's draws many people to its shows and other offerings -- that is why there was money in the office -- and that is why, unfortunately, it was a target for burglars.

And WHERE does the money go?????    Into Morris' PRIVATE pocket.....so he could buy his fancy schmancy home FAR AWAY from the city, FAR AWAY from the high tax bills.

Yes, Proctors is nice, it's nice to go shows there, uh,. IF you can afford them.   Most taxpayers cannot.   But, that said, in exchange for the more than $30 million os TAXPAYER money, tell us WHAT Proctors has done for the city.   Tell is what effect it has had on property taxes.   Tell us what effect it has had on property values.   Tell us what effect it has had on city service to the RESIDENTS of the city, tell us what effect it has had on the condition of the roads, snow plowing, watermains, sewers in the NEIGHBORHOODS where the people live.  Tell us what effect Proctors has had on the crime rate.   Tell us what stores----stores where people can buy things (like clothes, home needs, electronics, crafts, hardware, etc)---have opened here so the taxpayers and residents don't have to drive to Albany to shop?????    Since Proctor's has been opened, what has happened to the cost of trash collection to the homeowners in the city?

And by the way, DV, WHO responded to the burglary?   The city Police Dept.     Gee, despite the $30 milion welfare handout for Proctor's expansion, Morris refuses to pay for those police services.     Instead, he STEALS money from the financially struggling homeowners who has to pay Proctors tax bill.  And Morris has that stupid taxpayer funded caqtering business in there, and yet that is reserved for the well heeled; in return for for the $30 million handout, and the permanent forever tax examption, Morris doesn't even have the common decency to feed the poor children during the summer!

But what do you care, you don't pay taxes

Soooo....you prefer that hardworking homeowners lose their homes, right?    You prefer peoples homes are damaged from poor roads while tax dollars are given to Proctors?  DO you prefer more people are murdered in the city and have tax money go to Proctors?

Can you answer?

And tell us WHERE the tax moeny is supposed to come from??????    Can you canwer that????    Of course you won't answer....just keep saying more tax money for Proctors, but you REFUSE to state WHERE the tax money is going to come from.

And tell us DV, WHAT has been the return on the multimillion dollar investment???    What has been the return toi the city and its residents?????    Can you answer that????   Of course NOT, because there has been NO return.

I DEFY you to provide a list of the things that have improved.

Has the return been lower taxes?
Has the return been higher property values?
Has the return been improved city services?
Has the return been reduction in crime in the city?
Has the return been better schools?
Has the return been many stores (stores, DV, NOT gin mills), opening in the city?   And tell us what people can buy at these stores?   Clothing? Suits, Footwear?  Outerweare?  Electornics?   Hardware?  Pet supplies?   School supplies?  Music/DVD?   Home needs (kitchen needs, linens, bedding, bath, furniture, draperies, etc?).   So, tell us DV, can you?
Has the return been houses selling quickly to owner occupants?

Well, DV,  answers?   And DV, becusre that any return to state has proof (links to websites, news stories from other than tabloids, etc)

If they are making big bucks-GREAT! Pay a Stratton fair share PILOT. Like Ellis, Union College, and Boys and Girls Club. Anyone who thinks more County funds should be sunk into this taxpayer black hole is in the bag. So they can buy up more properties like Key Bank and create nonprofit banquet halls for DEM candidates? The coffeehouse is another example as is the Proctor's Arcade which is a total joke. Now the City is dumping $45,000 for the tourism bookcase.

Night deposits are for just that. No well run business keeps alot of cash on hand. Unless....Another example of incompetence by Mercury Morris and his County Legislature and City Council stooges. If Proctor's is doing so great {it isn't} drop the nonprofit facade, go on the tax roll and pay your fair share. Get skin in the game and stop tell others to pay more for your freebie.

DV doesn't comprehend what he has read, doesn't even remember what he wrote!!!!!

Readers.   BEFORE DV posted, he read (but did NOT comprehend) the news report which states the following:

Quoted Text
SCHENECTADY — Proctors’ main office was burglarized Sunday, sometime after the last performance of “Mamma Mia!” according to Proctors officials and police.

On July 12 at  10:11 in the morning. DV wrote:   (yes, DV, these are YOUR WORDS VERBATIM):

Quoted Text
The FACT is that Proctor's draws many people to its shows and other offerings -- that is why there was money in the office -- and that is why, unfortunately, it was a target for burglars.

THenThen on July 12 at 5:28 DV writes

Quoted Text
In order to make a night deposit, one would have to count the cash received at night and prepare the deposit slips ---  many businesses do NOT do that at night  but place it in a safe .. and then count it and prepare the deposit the NEXT business day.

See, the news report states this was done AFTER the END of the show.
DV first writes that there was money IN the office
Then he writes that MOST businesses, in the midst of their night accounting would put the money IN THE SAFE.

So, either he did not comprehend that this took place AFTER the show was ended, OR he wrote that the money would have been in the safe forgetting that he wrote the money was in the office.

So WHERE was the money DV????    AFTER THE THEATER WAS CLOSED FOR THE NIGHT......was the money sitting out in the office OR was it put in a safe?????

Since the taxpayers obvoiusly pay for the premium costs for liability insurance, I guess the taxpayers will pay the increased premium resulting from the loss because YOUR BUDDY Morris doesn't take even ordinary care with handling money.  Since the taxpayers paid for this theater, then OSC should audit Morris' accounting practices.

What kind of nincompoop incompetent employees does Morris hire that would fail to handle money properly?????    Well DV??????    You DID read that neither Proctors "officials" nor the police said that a SAFE was taken, but rather that CASH was taken.   So your buddy had employees who left cash sitting around.

By the way, you still haven't stated how Proctors has benefitted the city yet.  You can't provide any benefits can you.   Other than to say people from outside the city come to the city to see shows.   Explain what effect that has had on proeprty taxes, property values, city services, crime, etc

Is it just me or is something fishy about this story?  First of course is the money left in the office, was it in a safe in the office? And someone broke through a wall !?  Wouldn't a multi million dollar "establishment" have a security system in place? No alarms went off? No one saw nothing? No one heard anything?  Broke through a wall, wouldn't it be easier to break down a door, police do it all the time ....

You would think with all people shopping downtown lol that someone would see something.

BTW anyone else notice businesses going out of business on Jay St.?

Take another look at the block across from City Hall. Aside from Pizza King the entire block is empty. A restaurant has been for sale for years with no takers. Law offices for sale. But there is positive news! Roger Hull for Mayor Committee is renting one of the many empty storefronts so that will be filled until November.

This story stinks to high heaven. Another example of the shoddy business practices at Proctor's. Not the first theft? With the millions of taxpayer money flushed there get an alarm system and camera that actually works. Nobody knows how much is in the safe? Fiscal mismanagement at its finest. Mercury Morris should be sent back to Jamestown. This sounds like the DSIC with the tree grates no one missed.

Every single business owner that I know, large or small....ALWAYS clears out the register at closing....ALWAYS!!! And there is aregister tape along with receipts to back up the daily sales. In other words, at the end of the day or shift, they always know what the total sales were...ALWAYS!!

It just doesn't add up....cameras not working, doesn't know how much was taken, nobody saw nuthin'. If it 'wasn't' an inside job, then it was a good thing Northeast Jewelers moved out!!

It will be interesting to see if the gazette will follow up on this one and how they will spin it.

How was the safe opened? No word if dynamited. The word on State St is inside job. Most didn't know about the presence of a upstairs safe and Proctor's disgraceful business practices. The employees have all been muzzled. Strict no talkee to pressee. Don't except any follow up in the Gazetto. More egg on Morris' face.

The jewelry store fled because of no business Downtown. Bums-YES! Diamond buyers-NO! Vendors were told not to even stop Downtown. The ten jobs Death Ray lied about turned out to be one part timer. And even he fled to Guilderland.

Well, that's how a business would do it. Fact of the matter is, Proctors can be haphazard with their banking/money storage because they have an endless supply from the taxpayers. Ticket sale money is pocket change when millions come in from the Metroplex and taxpayers dollars. Proctors is like a spoiled rich kid, who cares if money is left out - they'll get more.
