Another photo op for Gary Hughes and another prime property taken permanently off the City tax rolls. Dorms for a community college. Ask FMCC how did that work for them? Gary Hughes still hasn't filed his State elections financials due in 2004. Too busy lying about tax cuts and the County Home.

Why doesnt the county just find a hospital to "work together with".  Dont they have all the "special equipement". DVR  do you consider yourself gifted or special.  Hope Gary doesnt steal my idea

Construction begins on SCCC’s $11M housing complex
The Business Review by Michael DeMasi, Reporter
Date: Friday, November 11, 2011, 6:00am EST

Work has begun on Schenectady County Community College    ’s $11 million housing complex being built across the street from the school.
Interest in the project is high on campus, said Michael Uccellini, president of United Group    of Cos., the project’s developer.
United, based in Troy, opened the leasing office on Nov. 1, greeted by more than 70 SCCC students interested in learning about the housing, called College Suites @ Washington Square.
United Group anticipates strong demand for the 264 beds at SCCC when they are ready for occupancy in August 2012—the first off-campus housing available to SCCC’s 6,000-plus students.
BBL Construction Services    LLC is the builder; the architect is Re4orm Architecture in Schenectady. Adirondack Trust Co.    is the lender.
The United Group has built or manages more than 3,000 student housing beds, including the newly opened 184-bed College Suites @ City Station in downtown Troy, and has more than 2,000 in the construction pipeline.
More than 70 percent of the beds at City Station have been leased, just two months after opening.
In Schenectady, the company worked with SCCC, city and county officials and the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority    on a 40-year lease for land across Washington Avenue from the college. The lump-sum payment is $250,000................................>>>>.....................>>>>.....................http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/print-edition/2011/11/11/construction-begins-on-scccs-11m.html

Locate new dormitories behind SCCC for safety

I would like to express my opinion about these new dormitories for Schenectady County Community College that are going to be located across Washington Avenue in downtown Schenectady.
As a former SCCC student, I would like to see dormitories built behind the college. The reason is that nobody would get killed or injured crossing to or from SCCC.
There’s a college in Utica, Mohawk Valley Community College; it has dormitories in a quadrant behind [the] building.

Nobody cares about safety especially trustee/"planner"/DEM everything Death Ray. Now he wants more dorms at Gillen's Gulch. They are not off the street Steve. No demand for national retailers? Maybe the Gazetto can locate an office with armed guards over there?  lol. Meanwhile the SCCC President is set to blast off to Ohio for bigger bucks. A bump in the road. See you chumps on top.

There is no place to build the housing BEHIND the college -- the site where the housing is being built is a great site -- all it needs is a pedestrian bridge over Washington Avenue.

Didnt't see that in the plan. Whose paying for it?  Should only cost a couple of million.

It would be a good investment -- and just like the pedestrian bridge over State Street .. it can be built at a future date.

Take a look at the Campaign Financial Disclosure at the NYS Board of Elections website to see if you can find any of the involved parties in
the construction project on the list of donors to the Schenectady County Democratic Committee.

And to think that all this time I thought it was just happening on the federal level!

The new student housing for SCCC is just the beginning of the new developments/improvements to come to the area between Erie Blvd, State Street and Washington Avenue.

The Renaissance continues ....

Interesting.

Out of the 220 only 107 or 29% had a Schenectady NY Address.
Out of the $141,392 only $41,288 or 29% had a Schenectady NY Address.
