For the most part, more than half of all Americans believe abortion is morally wrong, and just over one third think it's morally acceptable.  That would lead me to believe that of the 49% that say they are pro-choice, a pretty large percentage of those also believe it is morally wrong.

Right Alley no father pays anything for the kids. You should spend ten minutes in Family Court and get to up to speed. Fathers and noncustodial mothers are getting regularly slammed. Not sure what any of this has to do with the fundamental right to life. The pro-life movement is growing, while the pro-abortion side gets more frantic.

I posted all three graphs from Gallup to show that the attitude for abortion is not ONLY pro choice, or ONLY pro life.
Many Americans are PERSONALLY pro life, but POLITICALLY pro choice.  They voter for Choice, yet they would choose pro life.
You can see a majority (around 50%) consider abortion morally wrong, but a huge majority (around 75%) want abortion legal in all or certain circumstances.

75% want it legal... 50% think it's morally wrong.  GET IT?  They are 'pro life' personally, but 'pro choice' politically.  They consider abortion a personal choice that shouldn't be forced on others.

Alleykat, you're f'ing clueless. Why don't you take a course in reading comprehension?
THEN, try re-reading my post. In NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM did I say I don't want them to pay for their kids.

What I said was the man has no power, the woman does. If he wants the baby and she doesn't, too bad.
If he doesn't want the baby and she does, too bad.

Take a break from your man hating, estrogen induced rage, and try to think just a little more objectively.

If he wants the baby... then he should hire a surrogate mother and see if a embryo transplant is possible.
If he doesn't want the baby... then he should have kept it in his pants or used a condom... either way... it's IN HER BODY NOT HIS.

There is no direct relation from a pregnant woman to a similar situation for a man...
but...
Suppose the man contracted a STD from having sex with a woman, and if or how the disease was treated was up to the woman...
Not a great correlation but the best I could do.

The problem is Box, in the eyes of the law, he does not have that option.
And birth control is not a one way street. She is just as much responsible for preventing an unwanted pregnancy either by being on the pill, or keeping her legs crossed...in fact she should be more aware of it because she is more likely to be saddled with a child she may not want.

93% of the abortions in this country could be eliminated if birth control was practiced by both men and women. Birth control is available for free just about everywhere, so eliminate cost as a factor. The real reasons for not using birth control come down laziness and ignorance.

I agree with much of what you posted.

There is a misguided movement by Conservatives to control promiscuous sex by limiting affordable birth control.  Shut down Planned Parenthood and you'll shut down access to birth control for many men and women... thus (in their view) limiting sex.

Isn't it stupid? Keep birth control unavailable and also restrict money for taking care of unwanted children (orphanages)
I'm a fiscal conservative, but moderate to almost liberal on the social issues. Whenever I take one of those online political quizzes, it puts me near libertarian just about every time.

I don't have a party because the social conservatives..lets be honest, they are really religious conservatives.. have taken over the republican party. The tea party on the surface is a viable alternative, but if you look close, its been polluted by the same social conservatives that control the GOP?

What do you call 50 years of legislating morality?  Funding Planned Parenthood and public school sex education isn't considered legislating what LIBERAL consider moral?  If conservatives are legislating morality then that must mean liberals are legislating immorality.

If 55BIrd landed in the libertarian area of the political spectrum, then the individual is responsible for their own contraception – not the state.  De-funding Planned Parenthood and making the individual responsible for their own contraception and reproductive rights would be the libertarian answer.

Since almost all American children at one point or another will experience sex, and since sex carries with it huge consequences and responsibilities, sex education at some point, would seem appropriate.
If the problem of teen pregnancy, STD's, or rape didn't exist, sex ed might not be needed in school... but even WITH sex ed, these problems are rampant.  (a pregnant Bristol Palin as an example)

Sex ed, if done right, promotes abstinence, responsible sex and teaches the consequences of unprotected sex... all vital information for today's teens (and many of our adults).
As I understand it, you can teach this information at home and your child will be exempt from it at school.

Much of what is taught in sex ed isn't just necessary information for any teen, it may be life saving information.

Do you consider sex a Liberal or Conservative issue???  I consider it a human issue, and not teaching about sex borders on the irresponsible.

I landed near it, not on it. I am all for limited government, but I am also all for unlimited common sense.
De-funding Planned parenthood will make birth control less available to the poor and the end result will be more babies that the parents can't take care of. They will sign up for gov't assistance and cost the taxpayer more in the long run than funding planned parenthood. In the end, the less unwanted babies there are, the less it will cost us. Now, if a persons objection to funding planned parenthood is on social or religious grounds, then they should say it. But to say it is for financial reasons, it just doesn't hold up.

Lets face it, not everyone is responsible. I'm looking at the bottom line, when you add it up, funding planned parenthood saves money.

You can make that same argument for EVERY social welfare program. If a man and women cannot be trusted with sexual self control which doesn't cost the poor a dime, how do you expect those same people with those much more difficult life skills like working, feeding themselves, clothing themselves, housing themselves, heating their homes, providing their own transportation, taking care of their own children?

Common sense tells me, that if the state needs to provide a safety net like Planned Parenthood for those in society who lack personal self control and the basic understanding of sex and its consequences, I don't believe those same people will become the pillars of our society.  I think in relationship counseling, the psychologist would consider the state the "enablers" or the "co-dependent" in the welfare - state relationship.

I like to think that we are human and we dont always make the right decisions.  We can be influenced by someone whispering I love you-or i love you for ever .  Maybe in your life you make a number of decisions that end up putting you in a desperate situation=

Maybe in your case it was- not taking the right job or continuing on with an education that  would put you in a more lucrative job market-  maybe you werent aware of the city you are living in was slowly turning in to a smelly turd and you believed  politicians telling you they love you and they will make your life wonderful-

I mean what the heck- what stupid decisions have you made in your life that have put you exactly where you are now ?  Your up to your neck in pus- The reason  you live in Schenectady  comes down to laziness and ignorance ?
