The Republican Party in NYS has outlived it's usefulness. Whatever side you are on with regards to the 'same sex marriage' aka gay marriage legislation you have to admit the Republicans stand for nada. The Conservative Party has even less credibility. The Conservative Party panders to the 'blue & gray' hairs absorbing their contributions. Then the Conservative Party rolls over to secure patronage for party functionaries. The Conservative Party should run it's own slate of candidate & stop playing the cross indorsement game. They cannot they are addicted to the process.
The are few positions put forth by the democrats (left) that I would embrace but you got to respect their tenacity.
As a practical matter conservative values, private sector development, "American exceptionalism", capitalism are kaput in NYS. America soon to follow if the brakes are not put on.
STOP supporting or donating to the Republican Party in NYS & republican candidates. Let them "eat cake." Focus your support on national candidates. President, house of representatives & select governors races in other states. In NYS even if a republican wins, you lose. Republican state & local candidates are a waist, Roy McDonald being the poster boy for 'fallen Republican angels'.
The only man of integrity in the NYS Senate is Mr Diaz, a democrat. There is a suspicion that the three Republican Senators who went rogue (on the gay marriage vote) were sacrificial lambs. All the republicans in the senate will be rewarded for the success of the gay marriage vote, rent control (NYCity), property cap sham, etc. None of these republicans will get a vote from the left but money will flow into their campaigns. Nothing is as it seems in Albany especially the Republican Party.
Although I agree with you in part, I disagree with the notion of forgetting about local elections and focusing on national elections. Remember that government spring boards from the local level!! Government isn't a 'trickle down', when in fact it is a 'trickle up'.
I agree that dem or rep or con in NYS represent the same. HOWEVER, there needs to be a grass roots movement, (from the bottom up) to make a significant difference in this state. And that in itself will be difficult since most NYS-ers either have jobs 'in' the public sector OR are on the state 'welfare handout' teet!!

He never supports the GOP when they are right, only bashes it. Besides, if an individual elected official has a differnt view than members of his party, should he be run out or should he be accepted. Resorts that offer services to Gay Customers are booming around the world. With NY a Gay Marriage state, there will be a huge influx of people from around the country coming to NY for marriage. With Niagara Falls already a "marriage mecca", an enterprising promoter (and NY State) could make a fortune promoting gay marriage packages.
