Metroplex should be a major player in revitalizing the city’s neighborhoods, mayoral candidate Roger Hull said Tuesday in the second of his three major initiative announcements. Hull promised to negotiate with Metroplex if he is elected mayor, saying he would persuade the economic development agency to spend millions demolishing deteriorated and abandoned buildings. Hull, the founder of the new Alliance Party who is also running on the Republican line, made his announcement in front of 2033 Broadway, the burned-out shell of Tony’s Meat Market. The building has been vacant since a fire in late 2009, so long that a tarp stretched across the roof has fallen apart. Frayed fragments drape the sides of the building. “For two years it’s been boarded up,” Hull said. “It harms the businesses on both sides of it.” A hair salon and an attorney’s office bookend the site. They, and other property owners, have waited too long for relief, Hull said, noting that the city fi rst set aside money for demolition of the 50 worst properties in the city in 2008. The City would have plenty of money for home demolition if they didn't waste millions on non profit handouts. Metrograft should be abolished. If not, let them concentrate on Rt 5 plenty to implode on lower State by Gillen's Gulch.

It's a chicken and egg because then no business would have moved in from Rotterdam or Mt P. It speaks volumes when the highest taxed City can't pay either the schools nor the County. It's all about the kids until it's all about saving DEM seats.
The implosion has revenue consequences. Schenectady has 3 of the emptiest neighborhoods {Mt P/Vale/HH} in the State. But then that exact area is experiencing population growth according the the County DEMS? So go figure. Hull needs to get back to the idiotic DEM reassessment and record DEM taxes. The City needs totally new leadership. The DEMS are out of ideas and out of sheeple to fleece.
Since Metrograft is responsible for the County implosion it is only fitting that they help with the demolition. The renaissance is so strong that the City can't pay bills, can't fix roads, can't maintain any park or pool and can't knock down any of the hundreds of abandoned properties. Keep re-electing DEM morons!
The charter of the Metroplex is economic development, not urban neighborhood renewal. Further, their area of operation is supposed to be the Route 5 and Route 7 corridors.
If the Metroplex assumed the responsibility for the demolition of abandoned and derelict residential properties, the county sales tax would have to increased significantly. Eminent domain would be misapplied to even a greater extent than it is currently.

Petition the county government and go to the meetings and voice your opinion. Once that doesn't work (they don't listen to those who they don't agree with at the meetings), then the next thing is to vote out the current crowd and bring in ones that would do exactly that.

Move right to the second option. Any politician that comes to your door ask them first about Metrograft. If they start in with the renaissance and Miracle City crapola slam the door. Metrograft is a total failure. It has sucked $100 MILLION out of the oppressed County taxpayers to give to rich developers. It also encourages town employers to relocate further eroding town property tax revenues. Had enough-YET?

To be honest I don't know much about the candidates. Of course will be voting for Pat and Vince and as there are only the two choices for mayor gonna have to go with Hull.
I hope there will be debates set up, open forums for citizens to "get to know" the candidates etc.

You know more than you think. Pat Z for County Legislature-{District 2--Upper Union St, HH and Mt Pleasant} and voting for business leader Vince Riggi for City Council are two wonderful choices. Hull needs to be much clearer about excessive City taxation/borrowing but is the lesser of two evils.
As far as debates-don't expect too much. The League will have the usual boring format to help re-elect DEM morons. It should be interesting to see how OSM broadcasts these. Look for pop up garbage schedules and PSA's when the any non-DEM speaks. Proctor's already held a fund raiser for Leesa. They will go to any extreme to retain the all DEM death grip.

Fact of the matter is, Metroplex will go and help their black card carrying members wherever they are and then, the Plex will find excuses as to why they don't help others. Marcella's was paid to move out of a neighborhood, the Van Dyke (in a residential neighborhood) was bailed out, Upper Union merchants just beat an eminent domain sham and the list goes on.

I don't like Roger Hull because of the nasty way he treated GE Realty Plot residents when he wanted to put offices in their exclusively residential area. Of course the city caved in to him over permanent residents trying to protect their highly taxed neighborhood. The trouble with having the city government involved with blight is that their definition of blight is anything that is in the way of their friends' personal interests.

Abolish Metrograft! Instead we get expand their implosion "plans". The latest appointment is illustrative. Karen Ha-Ha replaced Gary McCarthy on the Metrograft bored. The same that ran DSIC into the dirt! The same that has no business in Schenectady. A reliable DEM stooge-and thank you for your YES! vote. What's her planning expertise?
How's Mt P doing without Marcella's? How's Rotterdam taxes without Golub HQ/Villa Italia? At least the towns get reimbursement of partial sales tax money. The City gets nada- with more buildings yanked off the tax rolls. Then the City DEM idiots can't pay either school or County taxes due.

Look to see who are the major backers of Hull's campaign. In my opinion, you have two choices for the Mayor of Schenectady. And, neither is good.
