I sure hope the Supreme Court finds this law unconstitutional because the government has really gone too far in controling our health care and our lives.

Sure, I agree this info should be solely at the discretion of patient and doctor.

Government mandate from who?    The dems of course.   Sounds like the dems are becomming communists too.

Or could you imagine a Hitler like president, just look at the computerized record of everyone in the country and can do what they want

I have been noticing commercials by some big corporation (GE, I think) extolling their new technology. Medical records, at the touch of a button. It didn't sound wonderful to me it sounded scary. And now, government demanding information at your doctor's office? Whether or not your doctor should have that information is irrelevant. And ethnicity, remember when the President listed his race as black on the census? And their are people who insist that this is valid because people of mixed race can "self-identify"? I personally don't care if people want to reinvent biology, but what good is a listing of
"ethnicity" for medical terms if it is something based on emotion, politics, national pride, etc. and not biological fact? This doesn't help a doctor treat you. Sounds like apartheid where people had to list their "race" with the government. Hitler used to do this type of thing too. I personally think the government should be forced to stay out of the "race" business. Again, whether or not your doctor would like this information is irrelevant to the issue. The government has NO BUSINESS requiring that your personal information be collected at the doctor's office.

Weather Americans view Electronic Medical Records as a good thing or not... it saves lives.

Every day people in an ER die while vital information is not available.  A ER doctor with electronic medical records  can access a patients history, his allergies, the drugs he is taking, his history of surgery, next of kin, and existing conditions.  With out this technology... the ER doctor is often on the phone looking for anyone who knows this persons history, then takes his best guess at a treatment.

It's the next logical step in medicine and it's available today...
or
It can be the next Conspiracy Theory  that sweeps the Right Wing Message Boards and Blogs.

My guess??? The Fear Mongers will win and this system will be blocked for years!

Shouldn't it be the responsibility of the individual to update his or her records by their own choice to perserve the own lives?  If people want a flash drive updated with their medical records, they can purchase a Med Flash or other personal flash drives that store your medical history and carry it with them.

Imaging that, personally responsible for your body and health.  That's radical right wing thinking in today's America.

Cicero's car is in an accident... his flash drive in in his shirt pocket... but it was crushed in the wreck...
His heart condition... His medications... His acute drug interaction... are all stored on backup at his home computer, but no one has time to find it...
The doctor takes his best guess and gives Cicero the shot... Cicero dies from the drug interaction...

The Doctor is disgusted... he KILLED Cicero because Cicero was too paranoid to put is records on a secure site that is easily accessible from the ER.
I don't feel sorry for Cicero... his Right Wing Paranoia lead to his death.
I do feel sorry for the EMT's, nurses, and the Doctor who gave of themselves to save him but Cicero refused.

I go to the Dr - I pay cash.  If they start asking me these questions, I'll find another doctor.

Treat me, accept payment and I'll thank you on the way out the door.

Intrude on my privacy by reporting treatment, medications and diagnosis to the Govt - you won't see me again - except perhaps in court.

I guess liberals aren't smart enough to carry a little card in their wallets that list health issues that you have, who to call in case of an emergency, your family doctor and his number, organ donation wishes, or where a bracelet or necklace with your health conditions on them as all first responders are trained to look for these.

I go to the same hospital, and the doctors look for my records, and the computer server is down, my records were accidentally deleted, the doctor reads the wrong records.  I can go on and on with the "what if" scenarios, but something I learned a long time ago, nothing is guaranteed and full proof, and submitting my personal liberties to the federal government isn't a guarantee of immortality.

Don't let left wing pie in the sky utopia take away your personal liberties.

Who's fear mongering?  You are making the argument that if you don't allow the Federal Government to collect your personal information and store it into a centralized data base - YOU WILL DIE!!!!!

Talk about fear mongering.  sh*t, you even put KILLED in all caps to accentuate your point.

Killed is what will happen to you NOW... with no changes...
This proposal would eliminate that and save lives.
I really don't care if there is an OPT OUT clause... just don't stand in the way by killing good legislation for the rest of us due to your paranoia.

What a big pie in the sky argument.  There is no factual basis of this.  Pure speculation by making up wacky "what if" scenerios. All this government regulation is sold under the guise of some potential low probablility crisis.  Like the patriot act - spying on 300K Americans because of a crisis that killed 3000.  Terrible crisis, but not a reason to spy on American citizens.

I believe hitler tried the same thing!! How'd that work out for the Germans???

It's scary to think of what the Hitler regime did under the guise of 'medicine' and that it may soon happen here!!
