It belongs to New Choices drug rehab, which also owns Bridge Center on Union Ave, and these other places.
302 State used to be a Masonic temple, and was a factory before that.
There was also retail space (once upon a time) on the street level.

I'm not entirely sure about it being truly non-profit though.
A friend of mine in the business told me that they were pretty deeply in debt.

For some reason, their residences are list as hospitals on the tax roles though.

They are not in debt due to back taxes, they are wholly tax exempt.

Oh, I know they're exempt, but they received a few million dollar grant about 3 years ago, and there was talk of them moving to better facilities, or remodeling 302 State, yet when I ran into somebody who was in charge of patients accounts and asked her whether they were remodeling yet, she said something to the effect of "I think they have to take care of that $9mil debt first".
The conversation took place about a year and a half ago.

So this building is vacant now? Or does the rehab place still do business out of that building? It will be interesting to see if the plex buys this one up too. Or perhaps market it with a 0% loan and a tax exemption.

If they are smart, they will just sit back and see how many 'private' businesses (not from the friends and family club) will be beating down the door to do business in schenectady. Ya know.......the capitalistic way!!

As far as I know, they're still there, though I haven't been down that way in about 8 months.

It would be interesting to know why, after all this time, they are selling. Perhaps they don't need that location any longer, or they are moving to another location.... but in either case, it would be interesting to know.

It certainly can't be the taxes, since they don't pay them.

It speaks volumes that two property's at the busiest intersection of the City State@Erie sit vacant, this and the former State Theatre, which is endanger of implosion. At the other 2 corners are the Thai and parking lot. One building down from the Thai is Olenders-one more down to Gillen's Gulch.

     Some renaissance. Some revitalization. Some Miracle City. Thanks for posting this BT-more evidence of the complete implosion of Metrograft/DSIC. No one has the decency to resign in disgrace. Downtown is in free fall with DEMS trying desperately to cash out.
