Teens will need IDs at pools
Rule addresses behavior issues

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

After a summer of trouble at Hillhurst Pool, the city is cracking down on teenagers.
This year, all children age 14 or older must have a photo ID to enter any of the city’s pools. The director of the pool will use to the ID to identify swimmers in emergencies and track troublemakers.
Among other advantages, a child who is kicked out of one pool will now be banned from all four city pools, said Ed Kosiur, assistant to the commissioner of social services for youth development.
Kosiur reported on the rule change to the City Council at its Monday committee meeting.
Lifeguards or the pool director will call the other pools at once, adding the child’s name to a list of those not allowed in city pools, Kosiur said.
Requiring IDs worked at Quackenbush Pool, which was overrun with groups of unruly teenagers before the Boys and Girls Clubs of Schenectady took it over several years ago. The clubs required every child to have an ID, and sheriff’s deputies made IDs for children once a week at the pool. .......................>>>>....................>>>>...................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00702&AppName=1

Isn't this a violation of someones rights when you have to show an ID. The Dems refuse to make people show any ID to vote so how is this different? Undocumented Democrats don't have to carry or show ID when stopped by police in Arizona.

What is the cost for a new City pool id? Another cost past on to the oppressed City taxpayers? Lumpy Kosiur will issue a stern look to the vandals at the 4 City pools. It is good! It is good! More DEM implosion news.

The City can't afford to pave the roads yet there are FOUR City pools open.

Close all but one pool (Central Park for example), this way if a kid gets banned, it's over. There are plenty of CDTA buses to bring these kids to and from a pool.

Here's an idea, have the City pay the over $2 million they owe to the City School District so that they can have their open swim program back.

A 5th grader could balance the City budget better.

The difference is that one group is comprised of children who are legal residents but can't vote Democrat and the other group are
immigrants are here illegally and CAN vote.  American citizens have fewer rights than illegal aliens.

Where is the ACLU? I wonder if they are illegal immigrants that want to swim (actually known by the media as "undocumented workers") then wouldn't this be a huge indignity?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

That wouldn't be prudent. This is not the time to pay the schools. Besides working together works! The DEMS morons must keep the Stockade pool open! So what if no one uses it and the neighbors all want it closed?

These are simple children seeking to better their lives and take the swims that Americans won't take.

Wow- of all places to complain about the lack of citizens rights- did you or Shadow even bother reading the original post ?  T  Well ok- I happen to look at my rights this way- You - shadow and grahmbonnet  are so smart politically but why do you want a law passed that would authorize the LOCAL  police to enforce a FEDERAL law - you have no problem with that ?  really ? it is a CIVIL LAW- did you forget that part ?  So maybe you have no problem with police enforcing the federal tax code ( civil ) too. ?  ( knock knock mr shadow- could you come down to the police station to discuss your tax return. Insane

I have a problem with police not being able to ask illegal immigrants for their ID when they have committed a crime either civil or Federal. I also think it's alright to ask for ID to make sure you are the correct person voting and not somebody using a fake or deceased persons name or an illegal immigrant who has no right to vote. I don't have a problem showing my ID to anyone in authority as I have nothing to hide. When the Federal Government fails to do their job, the state in which the infraction occurs should have the right to arrest the individual such as in the case of a person entering the country illegally.

I don't have a problem with them asking for ID.
Colonie Town pool does it, and that place is vastly nicer, in every way,  than any pool in Schenectady.
They even have high dives.

Then why not ask drivers who have been pulled over for speeding to show their greencard if the officer suspects they are not American citizens? The use of the roads is a privlidge just like the pools.

I wouldn't dream of going to a Schenectady pool.   Thank goodness we have our own.

I don't know if you heard on the news, but the city pools are quite unsanitary.   Users of the pool, or I should say past users as they alluded to staying away, all say tha people do both # 1 and # 2, and that's not talking babies either.

Then we can bet the biggest (in more ways than one) cheerleader, the adult-aged child who spews sh*t from his mouth probably swims there.

But then, the city can't afford to put money into thr pools, it's spend the taxpayers money on handouts to millionaires and billionaires downtown, and the taxapyers get NOTHING in return

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
