Cliff tumble injures holiday hiker

    The Plotter Kill Preserve was the site of a lengthy rescue after a woman fell down a cliff she was climbing on Monday afternoon.
    Plotterkill Fire Company Chief John Tobiassen said a 20-year-old from the Glenville area fell nearly 100 feet between the second and third waterfalls in the preserve.
    Rotterdam police said they received a cellphone call at 3:38 p.m. Tobiassen said they arrived and began a rescue mission with ropes and pulleys. He said the rescue took about 2 1 /2 hours, with the woman suffering serious injuries and screaming when she was initially lifted. She was treated at the scene by Rotterdam Police Department paramedics and then taken to the Albany Medical Center, where Tobiassen said she was alert and talking.
    While this type of rescue is something the Plotterkill Fire Company has done in the past, it has not been needed for a few years. “It was a very difficult one because of the locality,” Tobiassen said. .......................>>>>.......................>>>>.......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01102&AppName=1
