MSNBC suspends Schultz for calling Ingraham a 'slut'

MSNBC has suspended Ed Schultz, host of the “The Ed Show,” for one week without pay for calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a ‘right-wing slut’ on his syndicated radio program Tuesday.

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement.

MSNBC said Schultz will address the remarks on his show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward. He will return on June 6th.

“MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program,” MSNBC said.

Schultz’s suspension is the latest in a string of reprimands by the cable network in the last year. Keith Olbermann and Joe Scarborough were both suspended after making political donations without first alerting their bosses, a violation of NBC News policy.

Olbermann’s suspension went a long way toward weakening his relationship with MSNBC management, to the point that they parted ways earlier this year, leaving it without its highest-rated show host and architect of its current left-leaning slant.

“The Ed Show” moved from 6 p.m. to its current 10 p.m. slot after Olbermann’s departure caused a shuffling of MSNBC’s prime-time lineup.

The Daily Caller first noted the epithet in the midst of Schultz’s critique of Ingraham’s criticisms of President Barack Obama’s trip Ireland. .............................>>>>........................>>>>....................http://www.politico.com/blogs/onmedia/0511/MSNBC_suspends_Schultz_for_calling_Ingraham_a_slut.html#

Gee, in the real world, you do this and you would be fired, not suspended.

Ed suspended himself.

Watch how a "liberal commentator" apologizes when he realizes he's made a disastrous mistake.
(Not your typical Hannity, Beck, Rush... OOPS!  "It's Not My Fault" apology)

He doesn't blame Laura...(blaming the victim is a common ploy).
He doesn't blame the "heat of the moment"...
He doesn't blame the network, the politics, or the Right...
Ed takes full responsibility and,
He ONLY BLAMES HIMSELF!

The idiot should have been fired. When did Hannity call anyone a slut? Another no ratings liberal apologist. He will go the way of Keith Obermann in due time.

Oh and your friends Glenn Beck and Rush get a pass.  Laura Ingraham is despicable but she shouldn't be called names.  I love the righteous indignation of Republicans/Conservatives.

I have never watched or even heard of this Ed Schultz guy. And although I think the entire bunch of media outlets need to clean up their act, if this was considered and 'opinion piece', then he is entitled to his 'opinion' and 'perception' on issues and ideas.

However, this entire 'shock and awe', 'shock jock' way of reporting news should be toned down a bit on both sides. imho

Why did he apologize?  He said it, he meant it.  Why the suspension?  That's the MSNBC brand, pure hatred toward those they don't agree with politically.  My guess is they probably want to try another person in the time slot to see if they can get some ratings.  The guys show sucked...And I'm not saying that out of political bias.  I can actually watch Lawrence O'Donnell once and a while; at least he can hold a logical debate without constant left wing vitriol and anger.

He didn't "suspend himself." how ridiculous. Besides, he is a liberal so he can say what he wants because he for the elderly, the kids, the women, the poor and the disabled. If you aren't then you hate everyone and need to be silenced, denied a living, imprisoned and reprogrammed. Maybe even executed.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I don't watch Ed Schultz that often.  But I did sit up and take notice when he began to apologize because I didn't know he had a radio show.  O'Donnell is great as is chris Matthews.  She deserved an apologoy publicly.  However, she is just as bad.

Where is NOW and the Code Pink hypocrites? Not surprised that no one has seen his show. Typical Bash Bush=blame Bush for Obama deficit, foreign policy and recovery flops. If someone on the right called a Muslim woman a slut there be calls for a beheading. From the same dolts that poo-poo this.

Schultz was very much misspoken, and Laura Ingraham is not a "slut".

Sluts do it for free.

She however, gets paid for what she does, so I think the word that eluded him, was "whore".

No shortage of those-on both sides of the aisle. What the liberals don't get is that GE has sold MSLSD. It is now owned by Comcast. Liberal gasbags like Sgt Schultz will get some ratings or be gone.

10 hours, no reply from Tom.  Must be his handlers haven't provided the response yet - or he's emailed the admin of the G'ville board to remove the post.
