SCHENECTADY -- More than 30 people were arrested overnight in Schenectady as federal agents conducted an investigation into gang activity in the city, a person familiar with the probe said Thursday.

In recent years, federal agents prosecuted street gangs in Albany. U.S. Attorney Richard S. Hartunian spearheaded both of those investigations as an assistant U.S. attorney.

Dozens of people were arrested in the two racketeering cases that authorities filed in an effort to crack down on narcotics trafficking in Albany.

Hartunian, Schenectady District Attorney Robert M. Carney and Clifford Holly, the special agent in charge of the Albany FBI, are expected to discuss the investigation at a Thursday news conference.

Federal agents also have mounted major investigations against gangs in Syracuse.

What gangs?  They even removed the section of the School District rules regarding wearing of gang identified objects why?  Because there are NO gangs in OUR city!

Interesting how the TU scooped the Gazette yet again

What else is new? Death Ray/Mercury Morris have repeatedly stated that there is no crime Downtown. Working together works! Working together works!

Wow

Now, just watch DV and SB start shaking their pom poms TRYING to say that their dems are doing great things for the ctiy.

Back in Al's day there was some half million dollars spent on a massive early morining raid rounding up more than 100.   And after Operation Crackdown, the crime rate i the city plummeted.  This was EXCELLENT USE of the taxpayers' money.   The neighborhoods were safer for a while.

Then the dems took over the city, started hading out welfare to the millionaires and billionaires downtown, jacked up taxes in order to give the handouts, making the city THE HIGHEST TAXES AROUND.  In so doing, the dems totally ignored the neighborhooods.  Crime spread throughout the city.   VIOLENT CRIME spiked big time.  Homeowners struggling, some losing their homes, but those downtown owners, construction companies, etc, they were are living very very well.  Even Morris got the hell out of the city into a luxury house in a quiet virtually crime free area.

What needs and answer, and DV  should be able to provide it, is WHY?   WHY WHY WHY did it take the death of two young girls for the dems to do something??????

The dems didn't know that innocent people, and children were being killed, stabbed, beaten, assaulted, committing suicide?      WHY were they blind to all the high crime going on?   WHy did they keep giving the handouts to the millionaires and WASTING money on downtown when  crime was going up up up?

THe answer is, they don't care.

And if any one dares to say that the dems DO care, then I want an answer as to why they were freely giving out money to downtown while ignoring the citizens, the homeowners, the taxpayers, the neighborhoods.  Why?    If spending money on downtown was to improve the city, then how come the city has the highest taxes, plummeting property values, crime spiking big time, children getting murdered, houses not selling, and people just abandoning their homes leaving recorde high numbers of vacant properties.  Really interested in an answer.

Now, what is better?   Spend the money on Erie Blvd. or use that money to fix up neigbhorhoods and fight crime?

I am sure it is all a misunderstanding.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

If the DEMS don't mention it-the Gazetto will not report it-presto the problem does not exist. Gangs have taken over but the DEM morons refuse to acknowledge the problem. If we ignore it -it will disappear? Like the roads, like the highest taxes in the region, like the lowest rated schools, like the implosion of resale property values. They are pathetic but have convinced themselves they have done a wonderful job.

The teen suicides sparked an investigation and the girls were hanging around with these violent criminals, which gave them a distorted negative view
of life, evidently. I remember parents on the news, at the time of the controversy surrounding the school's handling of the suicides, making disparaging remarks about the school system. Now, some of these parents had to know something about what was going on in these girls' lives. What did they think a school could do for these girls if their parents and the community weren't looking out for their best interests?
I also noticed that these names are mostly unfamiliar, by that I mean transplants from downstate. I hope our DA isn't going to be in charge of prosecuting these cases as he is quoted as saying you can't prosecute your way out of these problems but when the problem is crime I think maybe you can try it and see if it works. I hope we don't end up seeing plea deals for all to "save money". Schenectadians have been paying too high a cost having these types of people on the street.

Wait, no one is complaining about the arrests not reflective of the population.   Wonder what Alice Green would say if she lived in Schdy?

this was either a big long investigation or it has been pure lies for the past 10years.....they all eat at the same trough....from the State head down....
