In the renaissance file, a new Papa John's is opening Tuesday at the Hannaford Plaza, 1400 Altamont Avenue. First, a governmental gin mill now another chain pizzeria! The working together crew has really been working overtime to bring minimum wage jobs to town.

Papa Johns was in and out before in Rotterdam. Their last location was Capital Plaza.
There are too many good pizzeria's in town to need a chain Pizza point.
Of course, being on the bus line and close to Walmart does up their chances for survival this time.
They'll pull in people from Mt Pleasant who don't know any better.

The most dangerous place in Schenectady is not Downtown. It's between Death Ray and a microphone. How's the sale of Trustco HQ going-5 years after the great "opportunity"? What about 440 State for a corporate HQ-that was coming in January?

there really is no pleasing the bunch of prats who post here ...   first, they are upset that there is not enough economic activity in the county  ... then .. when a business decides to open up in the county -- they cry and complain about that

It's not so much the business as the type of business...A pizzeria.. really? How many is enough?
Banks? again, how many is enough?...Businesses that employ people at close to minimum wage are NOT going to improve the county... I'd love to work 5 minutes from my house, but I need to travel to Albany to make a decent living.

I can't speak to the need for more pizzerias -- but if there is no market for the business .. it won't do well .. that is the risk one takes in a capitalist economy.

As for the banks, banks do a great deal of research before adding new branches .. they go where the money is.. and obviously, their research shows that Rotterdam is a good place to have bank branches.
BTW -- I do know that Pioneer Savings Bank has publicly said that business was so good at the Hanaford Plaza branch that they literally outgrew the space .. that and they are relocating an office from their central corporate office into Rotterdam as part of a plan to decentralize the corporate offices.

this is how a scum city gets started.......by feeding the plebs with cheap stuff(their choice of course) with the inability to cook for themselves without food stamps and
government help....the money they 'steal' on the streets is for the fast food...why? because it feels good......how many dollar stores and pizza shops? anyone know?

Wow, it seems like just November when you were praising them - and welcoming them as part of the "revitalization"

I still believe they are a great addition to the town ... just like a few other eating establishments that have opened recently ...  but I rarely buy pizza or barbecue or anything with pasta out -- too easy to make that at home.

Have never seen so many Pizza Shops, Beauty (Hair Salons) Shops, and Chinesse Food Rest. in such a small city.   Seems like one of the three are on every corner here.   When you are out driving around town see if it seems that way to you.
