Police statement: The man suddenly stood and fell to the ground." and "the patron resisted arrest which resulted in him falling out of his wheelchair."

Take a look at the jackboots.

You judge and tell us if the police training doctrine of 'massive attack' or 'shock and awe' is effective. It is if you want to live in a police state. How are things going to be when Rotterdam goes from being Rotterdam to becoming "Hamiltown."  ???

The video will certainly help prove that the man didn't just stand up, he was lifted up, and he will get a settlement from the transit authority for those 2 idiots actions.

Shock and awe/ massive force. The new wave of handling any and all circumstances. An open container violator, a drunk and crippled old man. Nice. The academy heads should be thrilled at the takedown. I would love to see what they would do a little old lady who was jaywalking.

He was arrested for assault on a police officer and drinking in public

I watched the video; I may have missed the part where the police officers were assaulted.  What appears to be two twenty something year old fit cops needed to pile drive a drunken paraplegic?  Seems excessive, but then again, there were people on this message board that thought tasering a twelve year old was justifiable force.

First question is - does drinking alcohol in pubic infringe upon anybody’s personal rights?  Second is - what constitutes assault on a police officer?

I am sure the very big offense of open container was the reason this dangerous individual had to be taken in and police did this to protect him and themselves from harm because the last thing we want is an officer ever injured in such a dangerous situation when apprehending such an obvious threat to public safety.

yup can tell by the type of wheelchair he is a parapalegic : (

I could understand if he was drunk and in the road in traffic or running into people on the sidewalk that they would have to detain him. but to throw him to the ground so violently.
