Homeowners tell truckers "slow down" May 19, 2011 5:28 PM Alexandra Field
Schenectady -- Schenectady homeowners have dotted their stretch of Kings Road with yellow signs asking truckers to "slow down."
Residents tell CBS 6 they understand the city doesn't have the budget to repave their road. Instead, they're asking truckers use some extra consideration, and help preserve the worn road by slowing their speed.
Homeowners say they're concerned that speeding trucks are damaging house foundations.
Residents have requested that the city post a weight limit on the Schenectady portion of the road. Weight limits are posted in the Town of Rotterdam and Colonie portions of Kings Road.
Now, wherever did the residents get the idea that the city doesn't have the money for repaving? Oh, that's right, it doesn't. The city spent the money on downtown while the people who pay the taxes get left without services.
hey, DV aka SB, how about some intelligent conversation here. DV, you've said on another post that more money should go to Proctors. Tell us, would you raise taxes on the homeowners to give more to Proctors, and then make the homeowners suffer with damage to their homes? Do you believe ir's proper to have such deplorable roads while tax moneyt is given to billionaires?
Of course, a nonsense answer is what we will get. DV aka SB will never directly answer the question. Is it better to use tax money on roads or to raise taxes on people to givee to a theater, some millionaires and bilionaires.
DV said he'll live in the city when everything in the county is consolidated. Guess you believe the people in all the towns should also have their taxes raised? Heck, what do you care, you don't pay taxes. It's easy to cheer for taxes to be raised when you don't pay them, and when you live off the taxpayers via living off others who live off taxpayers.

This is one of the most embarrassing articles for schenectady.....2nd to the high taxes and police corruption!! The roads are such a mess that the folks actually are forced to worry about the foundations of their homes!!!!!! It just doesn't get any better then this folks!!! OMG!

They have a valid complaint. The big trucks come rolling through and not only is it disruptive, I think its a little dangerous. I see the signs, I think its great that this group of residents have taken the initiative to help cut down on the problem.

OK, I wouldn't be happy with big trucks coming through, but irrespective of that., wouldn't it be more appropriate for the city and county to spend money roads than on gin mills, restaurants, theaters and handouts to billionaires

That goes without saying The roads in the city are falling apart at an alarming rate. It is truly a disgrace especially since we do pay the highest property taxes in the area.
But in this case the roads were rebuilt not that long ago. Kings Road is narrow, ends at Albany Street close to Bishop Gibbons, extends out through Rotterdam and Colonie to Old State Road and is generally a nice road to live on. I in fact lived on Kings Road in the seventies and early eighties (in the town of Rotterdam part).
The trucks didn't always go down the road, that's a recent phenomena. They are going back and forth to Park Building supplies and to the packaging plant that used to be the old Park Building. And there are a lot of them. Big trucks sometimes blocking the road over the bridge to the Highbridge Community.
So I don't see how the city can really do anything. The trucks legally run on that section of the roadway, but if they go fast then the rumbling gets bad.
They want an intelligent conversation .. but since it is only MC, PatZ and Senders ... that is like expecting an intelligent conversation from a container of rocks.

Yes DV, intelligent conversation. Let's tal about this issue.
FACT: Schenectady has THEE HIGHEST TAXES FACT: Schenectady's roads are absolutely terrible FACT: The city ALLEGES there is no money in the budget for roads FACT: Taxpayer dollars are being used for gin mills, theaters and handout to billionaires FACT: Homewners will be paying money to fix the damage to their homes because the city is spending the taxpayers money in handouts to downtown instead of spending it on necessities.
So, converse.....do YOU believe taxes should be spent on roads to prevent damage to cars and homes OR should it be spent on downtown? Do YOU believe that the highest taxes around should be increased even more so that the millionaires, billioniares, and gin mills can continue to get taxpayer dollars?
DV, could you EVER directly answer the questions.
Just like an another post you said that funding should be increased to Proctors but you REFUSED to explain how the homewoners are supposed to pay for it. Of course, since you don't pay taxes, then you don't care if the homeowners are taxes out of their homes. Tell us DV, what happens when the rate of vacant and abandoned homes in the city reaches 50%????? What will happen then, DV. Becuase, I trust you DO know that the numbers, the percent of vacant and abandoned homes has skyrocketed since all the big free spending has been takiong place downtown. You DO know that, don't you?

No, you are too much of a CHICKEN to discuss the issues. Homeonwers pay the taxes of downtown billionbaires, and homeowners owmes are getting damaged because their tax dollars are going to the gin mills and the billionaires instead of fixing roads.
Cluck cluck cluck. Too chicken to address answer the questio of whether taxes should be increased on the homeowners in order to pay for the roads that have been neglected when taxes were raised to the highest around in order to exempt all the millkionaires and billionaires from paying taxes
